  • Can anyone find better binocs for the money?

    Hi, I looked high ... I looked at Meade.. I looked at Celestion... They were about 30-60% more. And higher... at Pentax. at Redfield even Nikon about double$$ +++ in price. Alas I went low since these had the best reviews found for both birders, very amateur astronomers, and marksmen alike. They are clear and bright to 22 power ( they slowly deteriorate after 22). They focus well even if the field of view is small and getting smaller with magnification. They are easy to handle, for your hands to grip as the weight is not low but neither are they unbalanced or unwieldy. BUT if you have the money to spend and want the best or almost best these are not your lenses. But for the dollar they do what you need to get the job done. Mine is for stadiums to enable me to see what those in the front seats see. To watch nesting birds of prey. They'll work just fine.

    • Thank you for your inquiry. Roof prism, Porro prism, and reverse Porro prism binoculars each use image-erecting prisms to provide correctly oriented images. Without prisms, the image would always appear upside down and reversed. Most of us recognize the Porro prism as a “classic” binocular design with offset prisms while the roof prism binocular is shaped like an H: more streamlined and compact.
