Density

Density refers to the weight of a cubic foot of foam. A 12" x 12" x 12" block of foam that weighs one pound has density equal to 1 pound per cubic foot. Polyurethane foams can be made in many different densities from 1 pound to memory foams over 6 pounds. Higher density provides more durability and support.

Latex Foam

Latex foam is made from 100% natural latex from the rubber tree that is whipped up and heated to produce the foam. It can also be made from synthetic materials or a blend of synthetic with natural. It has higher density than polyurethane foam, 3.5 pounds or greater typically. Resilient and supportive latex foam is considered the ultimate cushioning material.

Made in the USA

Select Luxury bedding products are made in the USA using foam produced in the USA and Canada.

Memory Foam: Viscoelastic foam, also called memory foam has become widely used in bedding products. It recovers slowly after compression. When lying on a memory foam topper or mattress, the foam responds to your weight and body heat and conforms to the shape of your body. When you get up it slowly recovers its full height. All Select Luxury memory foam is 100% memory foam without added filler, and is CertiPUR-US® certified. Environmentally innovative CertiPUR-US® certified foam is tested and approved to meet rigorous standards for chemical content, durability, emissions and performance.

Polyurethane Foam

Flexible polyurethane foams, including memory foam, are the most versatile cushioning materials used in numerous consumer products. They are the primary cushioning choice in bedding and furniture for their durability and value.

Mattress Layers

In addition to the top layer of foam that forms the sleep surface, foam mattresses can have additional layers. The base layer of high density polyurethane foam provides support and stability for your foam mattress. All memory foam mattresses will have a base layer that provides stability and support underneath the memory foam layer. In addition, some mattresses will have a transition layer of foam, which sits between the memory foam top layer and the base foam, optimizing the pressure relieving benefit of the memory foam top layer.
