Overall, I'm glad I bought the warranty. My MP3 player broke, and I called in the Warranty, it was easy to send it in. Much easier than a previous MP3 player I bought new and had to deal with the manufacturer's warranty. The Manufacturer warranty had me jump through hoops, do resets, download software and all sorts of things. after 2 weeks they finally took it back. The Overstock warranty company sent me a mailing slip right away no hoops. After a couple weeks however, they said it they couldn't fix or replace it so they refunded the cost of the MP3 player to my Overstock account. LUCKILY, I could find the same player for the amount of my credit AND timing was so that shipping was $1 so that was my out of pocket cost. So I can't complain, but it could have cost me more if the price of the product had gone up and shipping was more. This is made clear though in the warranty contract so again, I can't complain. Be aware, replacement could take more than 3 weeks, this was also the case when I dealt with the manufacturer.
I PURCHASED A CELL PHONE BLUE TOOTH AND IT GOT DAMAGED. THEY DID NOT TRY TO REPAIR IT AT ALL. I WAS TOLD TO SEND IT BACK AND THEY WOULD CREDIT MY ACCOUNT FOR THE PURCHASE PRICE OF IT. I ONLY HAD THE WARRANTY 6 MONTHS OF THE TWO YEARS. ONCE THEY CREDIT YOUR ACCOUNT FOR THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE ITEM, YOUR WARRANTY IS INSTANTLY VOIDED. ONCE THAT HAPPENS YOU LOSE YOUR $8.99 YOU PAID FOR A 2 YEAR WARRANTY. WHEN YOU ORDER ANOTHER BLUE TOOTH YOU HAVE TO PURCHASE ANOTHER WARRANTY IF YOU WANT A WARRANTY. ON A $32.00 ITEM MINUS THE $9 WARRANTY, I GUESS YOU SAVE $22 BUT I THINK IT SUCKS FROM A BUYERS POINT.
I had to use this when the old mp3 player died and the whole process of getting a refund went smoothly and fast.
The replacement plan came in real handy after my spouse washed my gym trunks with the MP3 placer still in one of the pockets. I called the claim dept and they emailed me a claim return form and free postage label. Within a few weeks I recieved a cash credit.
Anytime I have purchased from Overstock I have purchased the replacement plan. I have had to utilize the plan on occasion and have never had a problem with Customer Service. They ready, willing, and able to help. Issues have always been resolved quickly and to my satisfaction.
Purchased for additional protection, used rebate funds, nothing out of pocket. Hope never have to use.
It's your back up for things that could go wrong. A must for such a small price.
