Smart Door Large Pet Door

I purchased this product last month. I have not even had it for a full month and already it malfunctioned. It was working just fine until 2 days ago. I replaced the batteries thinking it was the battery, although the batteries were brand new, because I wanted to be sure that was not the problem. Well i replaced the batteries that night and i thought it was working fine- every time my dog got near it with the key around his neck i heard it unlock but today i get home early afternoon to find the motor is running but the door remains in the locked position. When I first purchased it i heard the motor going and the door would lock and unlock on its own but i thought that maybe it was because my dog (i only have 1 dog) was laying in the next room and that it somehow detected his key. However, it still continued to do that and now it is not working. I called customer service and they told me to force the door through so that it resets the door but the door was in the locked position so as i was kicking (literally) the door I explained to the representative that it was going to break because it was in the locked position. Well i ended up using a screw driver to pry it open at the bottom by lifting the door up using the screw driver and it broke anyway- not much but it did break and the door did not reset. Now im stuck with a broken "automatic" door waiting on them to send me another one and if my dog uses it while i am not home then he will be stuck outside. Not to mention that the door is now open so bugs, water and anything else can come in the house until i get a new one next week because Pet Safe will not rush deliver. I should have just saved my money and purchased a simple regular door. What i purchased thinking it would be easier for my dog and me turned out to be much more of a hassle than anything. And if you have cats be careful. My cat somehow got out of the door (though my dog is the only one with a key) and so my cat was stuck outside until i came home. Overall I am very disappointed with the product. You figure if they charge that much you would get something that works. I hope you have a better experience than I do. Otherwise i recommend buying a regular non-electronic/automatic doggy door.
