We ordered the small size for our lhasa/shih tzu mix and it fits perfectly with room to spare whenever he curls up in this 'cave'. Roof is made of real shingles, and real wood smells good. Dog house is higher off the ground after assembly, great for when it rains or off tall grass in the backyard. As always, Overstock delivery was fast.Read More
This is a nice little house that is not really build for extreme weather. I am using it in a sheltered area with a heated mat for some feral (neutered) cats that live on the property. The wood is quite thin, and alone it would not provide much protection from cold or driving rain/snow. The roof seems to be nicely sealed, and assembly was easy and quick.Read More
I acually purchaed two of these dog houses for my two outdoor cats. Assembly was easy, and the inside has stayed dry during heavy rain. I do not think the house is big enough for a 40 pound dog. Probably the maximum would be a 25 pound dog.Read More
We are actually using it as a cat house for our two outdoor cats and they love it! Makes me feel much better about leaving them outside in Kansas winter weather.Read More
Bought this for our cat who stays out at night....have not noticed any leaking with rain and wind recently. Small chipped are damaged in shipping does not take away from the appearance. Appears sturdy and very easy to put together...would recommend. Cat loves it.Read More
I checked reviews on lots of small dog houses and finally decided on this one. Came quickly, Looks just like on photo and was a snap to put together. I'm a 67 year old woman and it took about 15 minutes to put together in my kitchen. Pre drilled holes lined up perfectly and just like that a cute dog house. It does smell strongly of cedar but that is to be expected. Dog has been put in it a few times but will not stay, but that is to be expected as its new but I'm sure in a few days if not hours she will be in there. Very happy and its cute on my covered patio so its out of the weather but high enough off ground if we have a driving rain storm like we had the other night and the patio is covered in water the inside will stay dry.Read More
very nice looking, easy to put together. not sure if my dog ever went in.....Read More
Very good quality for the money. Appears the shelter will last a long time. Our feral cat was not too keen on the cedar smell at first, but is now using it at night. Would buy again.Read More

How to Pick the Right Dog Door Size
A dog door gives both the owner and his dog freedom. The dog can go in and out of the house at will, and the owner has flexibility in his schedule -- no more running home to let pets out. A dog door does not need to be the exact size of your dog for your pet to fit through it comfortably. Here are the top tips for buying a pet door for your home.
Best Dog Beds for Small Dogs
Treating your dog to the best means giving him a cozy place to curl up in at night. If you have a small dog, however, finding the right dog bed isn't always easy. Smaller dogs and puppies may get lost in a bed designed for a larger dog, and may not even sleep on it at all. When you're shopping for pet beds for your little dog, you'll want to consider these tips.
Best Places to Take Your Dog
Pamper your pooch this weekend with a special day just for your dog. You'll both enjoy the chance to get out of the house and hit up someplace new. You can mingle with other dog owners while your dog gets to meet new friends, too, or take a day just for the two of you to do some serious bonding. These ideas will help you choose the perfect place and the perfect pet travel supplies for taking your dog out for a day of play.
Outdoor Fun for Your Pets
When the weather warms up, everyone wants to be outside, especially your pets. Even the most timid of house cats could benefit from a little fresh air from time to time. So whether you have a cat, dog, rabbit, turtle, or parrot, here are a few tips to help them have a little fun in the great outdoors.
How to Introduce Your Pet to a Pet Kennel
Introducing your dog to a kennel or crate can be tricky because some pets do not want to be confined to a small space. Dogs usually acclimate to the den-like environment quickly, but you'll need to start out by showing her that it's a safe environment in order to help her learn to like it. With patience and time, your pet will enjoy, or at least tolerate, periods of time in a kennel. Crates and kennels, if used properly, can provide a place that your dog feels is her own space while also protecting your home from your pet.
How to Make a Pet Cage Comfortable
Every pet owner knows that pets are part of the family, so of course you want to give them the best. Part of taking care of your pets is ensuring that they're comfortable in their crates and cages, whether they only go in occasionally, like dogs and cats, or they spend a lot of time in there, like birds, small mammals, or reptiles. This guide will give you advice on how to make any pet's cage as comfortable as possible.
Top 5 Types of Collars for Your Dog

Best Chew Toys for Dogs
Chew toys for dogs fall into several categories, and the best kinds of pet toys for your dog depend in part on your dog's habits. You don't want to choose pet chew toys for a dog that swallows rawhides instead of chewing on them or a very hard chew toy for an older dog with missing teeth. Some dog chew toys are safe if ingested piece by piece, while other dog toys are meant to be gnawed on for a long time. Here is how to pick the best dog chew toys for your pet.
How to Choose a Pet Bed
Did you know that cats sleep an average of 16 hours a day and dogs are close behind! This makes choosing the right pet bed for your furry friend extremely important. With all those hours of cat (or dog) naps, you'll want them to be as comfortable as possible. Different animals have different needs, and no pet bed is a one-size-fits-all design. Here is how to find the right one for Fluffy or Fido.
How to Choose a Pet Bed for an Older Dog
Pamper your older dog with his own dog bed. Pet beds provide your pets with a safe, comfortable place to sleep and rest, which is especially important for older pets. Most dogs love to curl up on a soft bed -- especially if that bed happens to be yours. Climbing in and out of your high bed, however, can cause your old buddy great pain. Coax him off your bed and reward him for his years of loyalty by choosing a high-quality pet bed that will soothe his tired bones during his golden years.
How to Increase Comfort in a Dog Bed
Your dog may be easy to please, but that doesn't mean she deserves an uncomfortable dog bed. Every pooch should have a cozy dog bed to retreat to when tired. Unfortunately, too many dogs live their lives without a comfortable place to rest. Keep your favorite pets feeling great by giving them a soft, welcoming place to sleep and relax. If you're curious about how you can take the comfort of your dog's pet bed to the next level, try these simple tricks. Protect Your Furry Friends with Pet Carriers
When you take your pets on short trips to the vet or on long vacations, a pet carrier provides a familiar spot for your dog or cat to rest and a safe way to get from one place to another. A comfortable dog carrier is also beneficial for use at home. Pet carriers and strollers come in many sizes, but they should all offer one basic thing: protection for your beloved pet.
How to Measure Your Dog for Clothes
Dog owners have been outfitting their pets with colorful fashions for years. Pet retailers offer a variety of pet apparel, much of which has practical uses in addition to fashion appeal. Measuring a dog for a new T-shirt, sweater, or baseball cap is simple and takes only a few minutes.
Best Places in Your Home for a Dog Bed
You want to give your dog the best, and a cozy pet bed can make him feel comfortable and loved in your home. Dogs sleep in their pet beds at night as well as for naps throughout the day. Giving him a comfortable bed to relax in is only part of making him feel at home, however. Finding the right spot for your dog's bed is just as important as finding the right bed to start with. You may even need several pet beds throughout your home. Buy a dog bed for each of these places in your home to maximize your canine's comfort.

Foods Your Dog Cannot Eat
Many of the foods you eat and enjoy every day are actually unsafe for your dog. Pets have different digestive and metabolic systems from humans, what's healthy for you isn't always healthy for Fido. Feeding your dog table scraps is never a good idea, no matter how hard he turns on the puppy dog eyes, but there are certain foods that are more dangerous than others. The following list covers some of the more common -- and most dangerous -- foods that you should avoid feeding to your dog.
