first - if you are like me, debating if you can fit 2 cats in here, the answer is no. only if they are kittens. BUT I don't mind having to buy 2 of these. my boys LOVE them. they are average size (around 13 lbs) and the space is perfect, they can turn around easily. the flooring of the cab is fuzzy and must be cozy, my boys are constantly hanging out and napping in them when they are home. i love that they are collapsible, not that it matters bc i feel bad putting them away bc they love napping in them so much. very easy to carry with the shoulder strap or hand held strap and easy to get them in and out of. the top opening is especially helpful for a kitty who doesnt want to come out at the vet.
i highly recommend these.
This was a great purchase! I went to several retail stores & the quality was terrible, products were made cheap. This was well structured, padded for comfort & I know it will last for years. Would definitely purchase again. Have told other animal lovers this is the place to go for a carrier! Thanks for a great product!!
I have been shopping around for a soft-sided pet carrier and Overstock had the best prices for the size that I wanted. The carrier is sturdy, well made and exactly as described.
I have larger sized cats and they fit in this carrier with room to spare. I have used hard sided carriers in the past and they are heavy, and harder to get my cats in and out of. This carrier offers a zippered opening on the end as well as a roomy zippered opening in the top that I can easly get my cats into and out of quickly and zip closed before they can escape. My cats aren't as afraid of this carrier as they were of my old hard-sided carrier. They can see out the sides and that also allows for lots of ventilation. This carrier is a good buy for the price!
This is an excellent carrier. My big tomcat refused to get in and out of the front loading door of his hard carrier, so I tried this one. It works like a charm! The top unzips from one end to the other and then fastens with a velcro strip. It's so easy to get him to the vet now and get him out on the exam table and then back in. No more fights! I'm glad I ordered the large size. I think the medium would only work for kittens or petite cats. Highly recommended.
It's a nice size but it made me realize how big my cat really is. I opened it and placed it on the floor for the cat, at first he just looked at it and sniffed around the edges since it's brand new. I decided to place his favorite ball inside the carrier along with a pinch of catnip and he quickly warmed up to the idea and went inside. I like the idea that it folds up for easy storage and it seems to be very durable. The shoulder strap is great for carrying on the streets of New York, not to mention easier on the back when going a distance. The only thing missing are flaps to pull down in case of harsh weather.
Had 'points' and always needed a 'kennel' to transport my cats to the vet. They were outgrowing the cardboard 'box'... :(
So I was able to purchase 2 with my points.
Came fairly quickly, wrapped decently. Fabric and net materials with a 'fur' covered cardboard bottom that is pretty stiff. Stiff enough so that when you lay down the covered cardboard, it pops/holds the carrier open. (Without that in the bottom, the carrier would fold down on itself). But I have to say, it's held it up/open very well. The only way it would fall down/fold down on a pet is if the pet could somehow pull it up off the bottom. BOTH my cats, in 2 separate carriers did not cause it to fall. And I had laid them on the floor for the cats to explore for ;many hours.
The ONLY way I can see it POSSIBLY falling down "accidentally" is if the cardboard bottom slips up out of the small seam/lip sewn around the inside bottom. You have to push the cardboard edge under this seam/lip of fabric to hold it taught. If it slips up out of that, one end of it starts to collapse. But even then it's only canvas fabric on the top. It wouldn't hurt the pet. It's so light. AND the weight of the pet inside the carrier would hold that cardboard down anyway. So, no worries about safety.
I like that there is a zipper on top and around one end. So you can put your pet in two different ways. Top or side. (The other end that doesn't unzip has a mesh pocket so you can drop your keys, call phone, or pet treats into there). Padded carrying handle. Pretty long carrying strap with a rubber shoulder pad so the strap is comfortable to carry on your shoulder.
Will the 'mesh' sides withstand a clawing, biting, crazy cat? I don't know. My cat's don't go nuts. They pretty much lay quietly when in these type soft cages. (I used a friend's once before).
I have 2 adult cats. One very large male, and one medium female. They COULD possibly both fit into 1 cage, but it would be a tight fit. Two smaller or 'average' cats could fit comfortably. But because of my big male 'fat cat', I got them each their own.
I bought two of the large sized carriers for my two 11 pound cats. The main use is trips to vet. They fit perfectly. Easy in and easy out. Love how I can reach my hand in and pet them when we're at a stop light to help calm them down. Great price too!
I like this pet carrier. Unfortunately my 2 kittens don't. They had their first trip to the vet to get declawed in this and weren't so happy, hopefully their next trip with the carrier won't be so traumatic!
I have a hard sided cage type carrier that has worked well for my two cats for years, also a Petmate product. I adopted a third cat that did not like that kind of carrier at all. He rubbed his face against the gate and make his nose bleed on the first two attempts to the vet with him. So I got this soft sided one to transport him to and from the vet. He is pretty fat and heavy and this carrier has supported his weight very well. The strap is convenient too and keeps my hands more free. He hasn't injured himself on it either. After having this carrier over a year now, the only negative is that one of the other cats happened to pee on the mat that came with it. The mat is just a piece of cardboard covered with plastic on the bottom and furry material on the top. It can't be cleaned. I haven't been able to find a replacement mat for the bottom of the carrier.
Is the bottom of the carrier sturdy (like that of a hard plastic carrier), or is it softer (i.e. will my 16-pound cat sink a bit when she's sitting in it and we're walking with the carrier)? Thanks!abolugus on Jun 16, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Not as hard as plastic carrier pet taxi's bottom, but our 13-pound cat did not sink the bottom. The bottom is made of plastic(honeycomb construction) and the cover is removable for washing.uxorious7 on Jun 19, 2014
