My cats love it
One of my cats in prone to urinary tract infections. In an effort to get him to drink more water, I purchased this pet fountain and he loves it! His younger sister also loves it. The younger cat is much more active and curious and she enjoyes drinking from the top of the fountain. The fountain is silent and the only noise you can hear is an occasion grumble of the motor when the water is low. I clean it out completely once a week as it begins to lighlt mildew if you let it go for longer. The filter is nice as it keeps food out of the motor (my younger car likes to put her food in the water). I would encourage others to complare prices, though. I found the same fountain at my local grocery store for ****.

All 4 cats use it!
The title says it all...all 4 of my kitties drink from the PetMate. I do have to add water to the container every day or two, but with 4 cats, I expected no less. I could have gotten the larger one but kitchen space is limited. Every 3 to 6 weeks it does make a motor-y noise but this just means that cat hair is starting to clog the motor. Easy to take it apart, remove the hair and put the unit back together. At that time, I drain out all water and paper towel-out any dirt that accumulated in the plastic casing. I rinse out the filter, too. (That reminds me, be sure to rinse a new filter before inserting it -- there is charcoal dust that should be removed.). Highly recommend the PetMate.

an improvement
This water fountain replaces our old one and is, so far, working well. No problems with leakage or overflow, which plagued our last petmate. Two cats are now very happy!

My cats drank out of a little fountain that I had which needed refilling constantly. It took awhile for them to become comfortable with it--but now use it regularly.

Hard to Clean
Cats love it, but it is hard to clean and it gets really slimy! Makes a loud noise even if the plastic water container is full

good product for price
Referring to my old Petmate watering bowl, I came home from a vacation, the bowl was pretty much empty and it was sounding bad as the pump was struggling without water. It was toast as I refilled it right away and evidently it was too late the damage was done. So I looked into replacing the pump and get some filters. But after counting the cost I found that it only cost a bit more to just get a whole new one. The new one works just fine. The water is directed though the filter and runs down the slide into the bowl. The extra water tank that is used to keep the water at a safe level is good but could be bigger, as I have to fill that about every 2 days, every day when all of my pets come inside. All in all it does a good job, just hate that everything today is plastic.

Good product
This is a nice product. My kitties are slow to start using it as they are not used to their water moving while they are drinking. I am sure once they get used to it they will love it. The fountain is extremely quiet. I have it on a small area rug, as some reviews said they had leaks, but mine has not leaked at all. At first I did not put enough water in the reservoir and the bottle emptied immediately. Once I realized that, I filled it to the limit, and then inserted the full bottle. It works perfectly. I would recommend this to a friend, but would also tell them that their kitties may not drink from it immediately.
