PetGear Generation II 42-inch Soft Crate

Prior to ordering this travel kennel, I read all the reviews to try and reassure myself...they all sounded positive...so I gave it a try. And yes it is a good travel kennel, pops up just like a kids play pen, nice and easy...took some treats to get my dog to even get in it, but he likes the side opened...he is a 60lb Pointer that stands tall and it works very nice for him. So I highly recommend this travel kennel.

I have a standard poodle who kennels in a 42" metal crate at home. When sleeping away from home, many travel crates (pop-up style) are too small or flimsy (they roll) to feel comfortable to leave him alone. We had gone back to transporting his huge crate whenever we traveled, which was heavy, awkward, and disrupting to our home set-up. Was pleased to find this one-- totally worth it! It is almost the same size as his regular crate, which is hard to find for our tall boy (as one reviewer said, it's about 2" shorter height-wise than described, but is otherwise the same), so he is comfortable hanging out in there, even during the day. We can carry the crate in one hand and his overnight bag in the other, a feat that never happened with the wire crate. Easy to set-up/ take-down and frame is sturdy. The folded-up size fits well on top of our gear in the trunk (the metal crate just barely fits on the bottom of our trunk, which meant we always had to unpack everything else before being able to unearth the crate). Accordion-style collapse sets it apart from other fabric crates, making it a smaller transport size. Fabric seems durable, pockets are handy, pad is nice, and I like all the different door options. It's no wonder this was out-of-stock when I wrote this review-- it rocks! I'd definitely say that it's meant for dogs already crate-trained and aren't going to chew (no fabric crate would be impervious to that). Have been SOO satisfied with this purchase! Wish we would have done it sooner.

I have a 90 lb. lab and this has been the best purchase I have ever made for him. He 'kennels" in this every n ight and he is able to completely stand up or lie down. The best is the portability of it; my daughter 'babysat' the dog recently and she packed this into her car and then assembled at her house without any effort. I am now making a purchase of one for their dog for vacation travel.
