  • Kitties love it!

I keep these in the garage for my outdoor kitties in the winter. They were always snuggled in them. I like the two openings on either end and the cold air flaps for extra warmth. Easy to assemble and disassemble. Good product!

Very happy with purchase. It provides our outdoor cat with cozy shelter and also having the feature of front entrance & an exit at back provides a route for cat if another animal intruded. Minimal assembly & quality fabric, also color of fabric is nice. Our cat enjoyed the ability to have heat in col weather & shade & protection with warmer weather.

  • Great shelter

except our ferrel cat does not use it. We tried to find the perfect spot, but it seems she rather relies on her own instincts for finding a protected spot.

  • Best outdoor kitty house!

First time I found this product on Overstock.com, I only ordered one to see the actual house and also if the feral cats would go inside and take shelter from the cold. The house looks just like the picture and very easy to assemble. When I saw how popular the heated house was among the cats in my feral colony and that they would wait their turn to go inside and enjoy the warmth, I just had to order several more. I also ordered a couple for friends who have feral cats behind their house. This is the best heated and insulated outdoor kitty house for ferals or if you have an indoor-outdoor cat. It has to be placed on a covered area, close to an electrical outlet. Not for use in the woods or out in the open. Overstock.com also has the best price on this house compared to other sites that sell it. I highly recommend it to all my fellow animal-lovers.

  • Nice heated house

Bought this for our kitty who loves to spend a lot of time out of doors no matter how cold the weather. So far we have not been able to get him to go into it but that has nothing to do with the quality of the house. We have it wedged between two Adirondack chairs on our deck so we don't have to worry about it blowing away in the crazy winter winds we have where we live. That is something you need to be aware of, it is lightweight so you do need to make sure if you are keeping it outside that it is in a protected area so it doesn't blow away.

  • Nice inexpensive way to keep kitty comfy

This heated cat house seems like a great idea for outdoor cats in cooler climates. Sadly, we bought this for our aging kitty to spend her last days in comfort. Cats seem to pick out a space to live out their last days, and ours choose the back porch, so I wanted to make sure she felt protected from the elements. My little Karma spent her last weeks sleeping in this heated secure house on the covered back patio of our house this past winter. I was glad to have found this. It's easy to assemble, and the fleece pad comes off the heating pad easily for laundering. Because it was open on both sides, we blocked one end to make sure she would stay warm. I cut up an old fleece blanket to improvise extra covers for the heating pad and just tucked them around the pad. I think it served its purpose well.

  • Positive Review

A stray cat had kittens in our hay mow , it was late fall. I worried that the 4 kittens would not survive the winter. The temps dropped below freezing often. My daughter gave this heated house as a gift. The kittens live inside, coming out only at feedings. It is safe and does not get hot, just warm enough to keep them snuggled together.

  • Nice value

I bought it for 2 large cats, it's too small but they both go in anyway. I live in Oregon and its cold. They love it, I covered the back entrance to keep them cozy. I will have to buy another. Great product.

Guidelines
  • How heavy does the pet have to be to make the heat come on? I am thinking of getting this for our hedgehog.

    Guidelines
    • Hello steparmy, animal only has to be 1 pound to trigger the bed. Thank you for shopping with us!

  • A feral cat showed up at our house at the beginning of a real cold snap a couple of weeks ago ( single digit temps and below 0. I obtained this house and quickly set it up. I have it plugged in in a covered area. I also have a heated water, food bowl. It does not seem to really heat up that I can tell. I tried setting something on the cushion but it still didn't feel warm. The cat has not gone into it yet and I don't know it why it would be attracted to it when it isn't giving off any heat. It is probably in a ground hog hole or, I can't imagine what. I haven't seen it in a week so sadly perhaps it has died. We would have let it in the house but we already have 4 that have showed up starving and needy. Any info much appreciated. I have checked all the cords and outlets and they are fine.

  • Are there any coverings for the doors?

    Guidelines
    • Hello JNL, yes, the door has a clear, plastic flap. Thank you for shopping with us!

    • Yes there are coverings for both doors they attach by hook and loop so they can be removed easily. They are clear plactic took one of mine off left the other one on wait to see what the cats do with one off.

  • I have a shed that was converted for 2 outdoor cats and the walls have been insulated and carpeted but it is still cold. I have an outdoor extension cord run for their heated water dish, would it be safe to use an outdoor extension cord for this as well?

    Guidelines
    • Thank you for shopping with us jewelsez1. The house uses a 120 volt plug and this is for the outdoors so it would work. Have a great day.

    • have a covered dog pen, I use party lights and heated dog pads with this cord. I plug it from my outside wash room, the party lights are left on all day for 6 months now, no problems. I do use a surge protector on my outlet.

    • The manufacturer does not recommend the house to be plug to an extension cord.

  • Will this be warm enough to thaw a bowl of water?

    Guidelines
    • Hello sjp078, It only heats up and gets warm when it senses the weight of the cat sitting or laying on it. So the heat would not be on to keep water from freezing. Thank you for shopping with us.

    • I doubt it. Better to purchase a heated water dish

    • I would not use it to warm water. Heated water bowls are inexpensive and work very well.

    • No, this wouldn't be quite warm enough to actually thaw a bowl of water, and probably not warm enough to keep the water from freezing.

    • I purchased the heated bowls for outside use one at my local Agway store and another was purchased at a True Value store. What I really like is that I can put the water in a stainless steel bowl and sit that bowl in this heated bowl and the water will not freeze. It makes it so much easier to give them a fresh bowl of water this way with not having to unplug the bowl and rinse it out, etc. It's so important for the animals to have water to drink during the dry winter months.

    • I'd also recommend purchasing the heated water bowls. Don't think this would work for water bowls.

  • How does it turn on and off? Is there a switch, or is it on when it's plugged in? We had one that turned on when the cat got on it (weight sensitive), and that didn't work for us.

    Guidelines
    • Ours is weight sensitive, and works fine.

    • you leave it plugged in all the time but it only heats up and gets warm when it senses the weight of the cat sitting or laying on it.

    • This great heated house, once plugged in, stays on continuously, unless you unplug it. I highly recommend this product!

    • this pad is left plugged & has no switch. I is weight sensitive. My cats love the warmth on these cold winter nights.

  • How do you wash it? Can it go in the washer and dryer?

    • Hello tsutton333, we suggest spot cleaning. Thank you for shopping with us.

    • I used an old towel over the provided mat to make it easier to clean

  • Is this product suitable in windy conditions?

    Guidelines
  • Two questions: Is the roof removeable for cleaning? Is this a 120V plug-in house or do you need to put batteries in it? If batteries, what kind.

    Guidelines
    • It is a plug in, the roof zips to side walls and the floor is removable.
