Top 5 Benefits of Baby Carriers
A recent trend in attachment parenting has left a new wave of parents considering the benefits of closeness and all-natural parenting techniques. Regardless of your parenting style and lifestyle choices, baby backpacks and carriers offer many benefits to both you and your child. Baby carriers such as baby slings, baby wraps and infant carriers are hands-free, and each can sooth your baby with closeness and gentle movement. Other baby gear, such as baby backpacks, is perfect for older children and can keep your mischievous toddler safe and entertained. Consider our list of the top five benefits when shopping for baby carriers, slings and other baby gear.
Baby Carriers vs Baby Slings
It's important to have a hands-free way to carry your baby, but with all the baby slings and baby carriersavailable, how do you know which is best for you and your little one? Baby slings and baby carriers both have the same basic function, but achieve it in different ways. Some parents will prefer a sling, while other parents will prefer a traditional baby carrier, or they may even choose to purchase both and use them for different times and purposes. Before you get swamped with all the baby gear options available, read the following points to help you decide if baby slings, baby carriers or both will best fit the needs of you and your baby.
Best Reasons to Use Baby Playards
When shopping for baby gear, consider putting a playard on top of your list. Playards, also sometimes referred to as playpens, function as cribs, changing stations and safe, enclosed play areas. Purchasing a portable baby playard can save money and space while giving you a versatile piece of baby furniture for travel and activities with baby. Some of the best reasons to use baby playards include value, versatility and portability. Today's playards are not like the playpens your mother used; these handy pieces of baby gear perform a myriad of functions and go anywhere.

Best Duvet Covers for Each Season
For those who use duvet blankets year-round, duvet covers allow you to change patterns and color to match every season. Along with the decor of the bedroom, a duvet cover may enhance the ambiance of the entire room or supply it with rich colors and textures for the ultimate comfort factor. If you purchased an expensive duvet, covering it throughout the year will keep it in good shape and allow you to wash it without compromising the batting. Look below to learn the best duvet covers for each season. Spring: Once the evenings start warming up, lighter fabrics like satin provide sheen and style to any bedroom. Satin duvet covers are most often comprised of fabrics like nylon, rayon or silk to provide durability as well as comfort. For spring, lighter colors, including pastels or variations of cream and beige, brighten the room. Summer: During warm summer nights, cotton duvets are one of the most common fabric choices. Light and airy, cotton is also easy to clean and comes in virtually every color and pattern. For the summer season, try a white duvet cover, which will make the room appear more open and spacious. A cotton blend that contains polyester is also an ideal choice for summer, because it is soft, requires simple washing and does not wrinkle. Fall: For the fall season, a duvet cover that is warm enough for intermittent chilly nights is an ideal choice. Microsuede duvet covers offer a soft feel to bedding and come in a variety of colors. This material is easy to care for and machine washable. For fall, choose earthy colors like beige, brown, dark green or burgundy for a seasonal look. Winter: A luxurious duvet cover is a favorite option for warmth during the winter months. Velvet is a soft fabric that comes in a variety of rich colors and provides plenty of insulation for cold nights. The luxurious texture looks good in any style of room decor. For winter months, choose deep, rich colors like burgundy, plum, forest green or chocolate to enhance the room. View All Duvet Covers Back to Guides Directory View All Duvet Covers
Best Baby Gifts for a Newborn
Newborn gifts range from the useful and practical to the whimsical and luxurious. When selecting a baby gift for a newborn, you may be wondering how to choose something unique that won't be like all the other presents at a baby shower. To find the best newborn baby gift, consider what you know about the baby and the lifestyle of the parents and consider gifts that the parents truly want. Toys. Baby toys always make good gifts for newborns. Even if the toys won't be played with right away, parents can use them to provide stimulatory experiences and items such as rattles, stuffed animals, soft blocks and musical mobiles all provide the developing baby with learning opportunities. Books. Children can never have too many books. Reading to and with a little one can help them develop language skills and imaginative qualities. Many parents start reading to baby from day one and find that it is a valuable bonding experience. Any baby book with a simple, clean layout, contrasting visuals and short, straightforward text makes a good choice. Look for touch-and-feel books, pop-up books and books with mirrors, which are all fun for babies. Blankets. Keep baby warm and comfortable with a soft blanket. A luxury blanket made of cashmere or silk can be a nice change from other gifts and will probably become a family treasure. Blankets that have been embroidered with the baby's name or initials are also a unique newborn baby gift. Baby blankets that have been folded into the shape of a cake or other decorative item are fun to give on their own or as part of a gift basket. Larger items. Many parents find that they simply can't afford to purchase all of the baby gear that they really want. If you are looking for a newborn baby gift that will impress, then you might consider purchasing a larger item, such as a swing, a rocking chair or a video baby monitor. Surprise the mom-to-be in your group of friends with something she has been wanting by gifting something expensive with several other people. Sleeping accessories. During the first few months of your baby's life, sleep will likely become more of a focus than before your baby was born. Baby accessories that make your life easier by helping you and your baby sleep are important for the first several years of your baby's life and beyond. You may already know the type of bed you want to purchase for your baby, but keep in mind that there are many options, from portable cribs that can go anywhere to co-sleepers that can sidecar on your bed for convenience and bonding. If you choose to have your child sleep in his own room, opt for a baby monitor that will keep you in touch with him throughout the night. Audio and video baby monitors are both available. How to Make Cat Cages Comfortable for Cats
When you need to put your cat in a cat cage, you want to make sure she's as comfortable as possible in there. Pet cages can be cold, hard, and lonely for kitties, but with the right preparations, cat carriers can actually become cozy. Whether you're taking her to the vet in a kennel, flying with her on an airplane, or keeping her sequestered while allergic guests are in the house, helping your cat feel comfortable will make things easier for both of you.
Benefits of Using a Travel Backpack When Traveling
Travel backpacks offer a number of benefits for all types of travelers and may be an attractive alternative to larger tote bags, duffel bags and miniature suitcases. Whether you're traveling with a backpack over a long distance or traveling by plane with a small backpack as a carry-on, use a travel backpack designed with extra compartments and tight-fitting, portable style to ensure a comfortable travel experience. Easy to stow and store: The design of a travel backpack makes it easy to store it in overhead bins in a bus, train or airplane. The soft sides of a backpack let it conform to tight storage spaces. Many travel backpacks have compression straps that let you cinch the packs contents down to take up less space. Comfort: Travel backpacks put less strain on your body than most other kinds of luggage because their weight doesn't pull on one side of your body. Travel backpacks are designed to evenly distribute their load on your shoulders and hips, making them easy to carry for several hours. Thick straps with lots of padding make it even more comfortable. Keeps travelers organized: Many travel backpacks are designed with several compartments to store smaller items, such as water bottles, a cell phone, MP3 player, PDA, passport and subway tokens. This makes it easier to stay organized while traveling, ensuring that all your basic items and accessories are within easy reach. Easy to move around: Probably the biggest benefit of using a travel backpack is the ease of movement it provides. You don't have to worry about dragging a rolling suitcase up a flight of stairs. A travel backpack is also easier to maneuver through a crowd of people than most other types of luggage. Protects items from the elements: Many travel backpacks are made with water-resistant and waterproof fabrics that protect your valuables no matter what the weather forecast may look like. Travel backpacks made with polywick fabric, ballistic nylon and other weatherproofing materials are especially beneficial for travelers who will be outdoors for most of their trip.
