Why did you choose this product?
I purchased this when my Blaze was 4 months old. He's now 10 months and uses this post on a daily basis. It's tall enough so he can fully stretch while scratching and study enough that it won't fall over when he jumps on the ledge to play with the balls attached. I wish the perch was larger so he could lounge on it but I would still definitely recommend....

this post is the perfect height for my kitties and it's well balanced and stays in place while they are using it - unfortunately the fabric started peeling off the face of it within the first month or two of having it.Read More

My mom recently took in a wonderful stray cat. Not sure where he came from, but I don't think he understood the concept of a scratching post. I've purchased several versions of scratching surfaces for this cat...from fancy condos with posts to the pads you can get at the local pet stores. He ignores them in favor of the corner of the sofa. But FINALLY...after a few months of trying...this the one he finally took to! I didn't even have it put together yet and he was already testing it out! (That was a FIRST! He has only tested out one before and that was after much coaxing, but he never looked at it again!) I think it is a combo of the flat sides on the post, little balls on the strings at the top of the post that got his attention, and the fact that it is so much taller than average and so very sturdy! Whatever it is, both my mom and her new kitty couldn't be happier. HE LOVES IT and she doesn't have to keep chasing him away from the furniture. Quick ship, easy to put together, and a HUGE BARGAIN compared to the cost of a new sofa.Read More
This is a GREAT cat scratching post. All of my cats have taken to it right off. They love being able to stretch! They have been shredding my sofa arms, so I put double sticky tape where I did not want them to scratch, and put the post right next to my sofa. Magic! They have left the sofa alone, and now use only the post. I will be ordering another. I did alot of research, here and on other sites, before choosing this item. It is very stable and well built. It has not toppled over, or even swayed a little, and my cats are very active. They even sit on top and play with each other. Excellent product - I would highly recommend to anyone needing a sturdy, good looking scratching post.Read More
I am very pleased with this cat scratching post. It is of a much higher quality and lower price than a similar one I shopped at Petco. It was very easy to assemble. One of the screw holes was slightly off but not enough to make a difference. Now if I can only get my cat to use it instead of the sofa, all will be great.Read More
When you adopt a cat, you need to get a food bowl, water bowl, cat treats-------and one of these!! Kiera Bella had started using the back of the sofa so I hurried to get a substitute scratching site. This was post was a good choice because Kiera knew from the jump that is was for her. She started using it immediately. The 4 soft balls attached to the 4 sides enticed her to use it the first time and she has used the scratching post ever since (saved the sofa!!). It is tall enough for Kiera to get a good scratch/stretch. She loves sitting on the top of it to survey her kingdom.Read More

How to Choose a Scratching Post for Your Cat
Cats have a natural urge to scratch. It helps them stretch and relax while simultaneously shedding old claw sheaths and sharpening new claws. If you don't buy your cat a scratching post, chances are that he'll turn to your furniture or carpet to satisfy his urge to scratch. Buying a scratching post your cat is sure to use isn't a simple task, however. Every cat prefers something different, so finding the right post for your pet is important. Here are some of the factors that go into choosing the right one.
