I'd been looking for a furniture-style dog crate for a while. I was a little unsure about this one since the dimensions seemed large. It is a little bigger than his old metal crate but doesn't overpower the room. It was easy to assemble -- took my husband and I about 20 minutes once everything was removed from the box. You will need two people for some of the steps since you need one person to hold the sides upright while the other person tightens the screws. It is pretty sturdy too -- my teenage daughter sometimes sits on the top and it supports her weight without issue. She is pretty light though -- maybe 110 pounds -- so I'm not sure if it would support the weight of a full size adult. Now, I did have a problem with the first delivery. I received confirmation that it was delivered at 9:30 am and when I asked my son to bring it inside, he insisted nothing was on the front porch and he was right. Several hours later the delivery confirmation time changed to 12:30, which seemed odd, but it seemed as though the package initially got delivered elsewhere in error. And when I got home, there was a big dent in the side of the box. I had hoped the product inside wasn't damaged but unfortunately there was a big dent in what was the top of the crate. I called Overstock.com and they promptly arranged to have the damaged crate picked up and a new one delivered. It came a couple of days later in pristine condition. Thanks for the great customer service, Overstock.com!Read More
Bought the smaller version of this crate for our larger dog when she was still a puppy. Now that she is two years old, it was time to get her the larger crate so she could stretch out and stand up. We now have a medium and large size in the same finish. Although the large crate is bigger than the standard coffee table, it does look so much better than the plastic version and has worked well with our decor. Only caution, if your puppy is still chewing on stuff, hold off getting this piece until you know they won't chew on the wood slats. On our first purchase which was the medium size, overtime, we had to remove the wooden slats in the door and replaced them with medal bars because she had chewed through several of the slats "completely" whether out of boredom or just still needing to chew when getting her teeth. Now our smaller dog resides in the medium (he is a Carin) and our 35 lb plus puppy has the larger. Love these crates.Read More
This crate is by far the most expensive "side table" I have ever purchased, and I still think it was worth it. The wood looks great--so much better than a wire or plastic crate. And as odd as this sounds, I think my dog (a +/-50 lb. pit mix) actually likes it better. With the wire crate, she would only go in at bed time, or when I asked her to. With this new crate, she goes in and out all day, sometimes to nap, sometimes to play with a toy. Though my dog and I (obviously) haven't discussed it, my impression is that this crate is cozier and cooler than the wire and plastic ones were. I have only one gripe: the latch. The latch on the unit is flimsy and cheap. If your dog is prone to "jailbreaks," you'll need to mount a sturdier latch.Read More
Crate is a quite an upgrade from the plastic Vari-Kennel we were using. It was very easy to assemble, however due to its large size would have been extremely difficult for one person. It arrived with a piece damaged and we had to epoxy it overnight before continuing assembly. It it very roomy and our standard poodle looks very elegant inside.Read More
I like this table/crate. My dog likes it also and it replaces our old ugly wire crate. Much more pleasing in the living room.. Only problem I have is the latch is very very flimsy and light compared to the rest of the table that is why I rated it only as very good rather than excellent. I have gotten several compliments on it - May purchase a 2nd one when my chocolate lab puppy gets larger. I would not recommend for puppies.Read More
Questions & Answers
Hello Ranee, if the bulldog fits within these dimensions 37 inches long x 24 inches wide x 25 inches high, then yes it will be able to hold a dog that size. Thank you for shopping with us!
From the photo, it looks like the front door can be pushed inside. Does it stay inside firmly or does it flap? Thanks.
Hi meandmydog1, we were able to verify this information with our support team. The door freely swings in and out, and there is no hardware to hold the door inside the crate. Most people will put a bed inside for their pet's comfort, which will hold the crate door inside. Or you can use a small bungee cord to hold it inside. Thanks for shopping with us.
