Work in Progress
I purchased this feeder for our 72lb Black Lab mix and the height is perfect for him. The feeder is sturdy when the legs are filled and doesn't wobble when our dog eats or drinks. I do have a problem with the stainless steel food dish though - it spins and moves around in the holder when my dog eats. This makes him uncomfortable enough to stop eating and getting more than half way through his dinner without the dish banging around in the plastic holder is proving to be an issue. (My dog is a rescue and tends to get freaked at strange things!) I tried a damp towel between the bowl & holder but is was too bulky. I'll look into putting a rubber washer or something on/under the dish to resolve the problem. Needs to be something that still allows for the bowl to be removed for daily cleaning. The water dish doesn't have this problem as the water weighs it down enough and he laps at it with no problem. I was hoping the food bowl issue wouldn't bother him after a few days and he would enjoy the benefits of eating at a comfortable level. He hasn't adjusted yet and needs a lot of encouragement to eat. Overall the holder is a great design, but for me the food dish need a stabilizer to hold it in place.

great feeder
I have a 150lb. newfie (newfoundland) all newfie's are slobs but this feeder keeps the mess to a minimum. I do not even put sand in the legs. He has never knocked it around or tipped it in any way. My advice to people before you purchase is to know your pet really well and what his or her eating habits are. For the person who says the bowl spins around and frightens the dog my suggestion is to put a piece of velcro on the bottom of the dish and on the bottom of the feeder this way the bowl will not spin and frighten your dog. Velcro comes in 2 parts a rough part and a soft part when they are together they do not come apart unless you pull them apart. This should solve your problem. All in all this is a very good feeder for large pets it will not put strain on their necks which can get out of alignment very easily. Also the price of the product is excellant. I have seen it as high as $75.00. I have had mine for over 10yrs and with just a little care it has held up extremely well. It looks almost knew. As far a color goes that is a matter of preference. After all it is for your dog and he or she just want a comfortable bowl to eat and drink out of. I hope this was helpful.

No good
Not what I expected. It's just the right size, but very cheap looking. This might be tolerable if it actually came in the color pictured online. It came in an ugly green color. When I have the time, I have to get to the post office to return it. Yuck!

Its Great
Before you buy, make sure you look at the ALL measurements. Sure, its tall but its freakin wide too! Bigger than I thought, but it works great. Easy to clean and nice and tall so my dog doesn't have to bend over too much. I love it.

Great Feeder
This is a great feeder for large dogs, like my Great Dane!!!! It is high enough for him, sturdy enough for him and cleans up easily. This is the best dog feeder I have ever bought. By the way, I place it against a wall and it doesn't have any weight put in the legs, but it still doesn't shift when my 160# dog eats!!

big but it works
I was surprised at how tall and how big the bowls are on the feeder. I have a 70lb lab and this works perfectly! The smaller dogs can't get to her food and she does not have to strain her neck as much. You definitely need a good amount of space to put this as it is almost a piece of furniture. The picture makes it look smaller so just make sure you are comfortable with the dimensions. I'm happy and my dog's happy!

I have a great dane and this works perfect for her. i will say for it being plastic, id expect it to be a little cheaper. you can add sand or water to the legs to give it more stablility, but i didnt and it works just fine. i will say one of the things i dont like is every time i go to fill up the water bowl, i find a puddle of water under the bowl (not on the ground, just in the space used to hold the bowl) that i have to sop up. otherwise, it works as advertised.

Dog Feeder
I have two big dogs and feed each with their own dog food (one is a pup and one a senior) with these feeders. I can never figure out why one needs to take the food out of the dish in mouthfuls and then drop it on the floor, and eat from there. Kind of defeats the purpose of an elevated feeder ! Water is different however, and the elevated dish for water seems to keep the slobber and mess to a minimum. I have not needed to fill the legs of these with sand or water, but did on a previous model with a more aggressive dog that liked to knock it down in the eating process. Good to have that ability. All in all these are more attractive than the blue and other colored ones available. Good units if your dog will actually feed elevated.

This product will last forever!
I felt compelled to write a review on this product. We purchased this feeder in summer of 1997 for our lab puppy Guinness. Although it is nothing fancy, he loved it. We moved from an apartment in 2000 and it came with us. When he stayed at the K9 Clubhouse it went with him. He didn't want to eat from anything else. When our boy Guinness passed away in December of 2009 we cleaned it and put it away. It was a bit worn, but it had teeth marks from is puppy days so I just didn't have the heart to get rid of it. In June of 2010 we took home our puppy Murphy (another chocolate lab). Murphy quickly grew, we shopped locally and could not find an elevated pet feeder that we were satisfied with. I took Guinness feeder out of storage and Murphy loves it! I know there are fancy feeders out there on the market (with a rather hefty price tag) I know because we sell them in our online pet store. But let me tell you, the price and the durability of this feeder can not be beat!
