Armarkat Indian Red 18x14-inch Cat Bed

When I first pulled this out of the box, I was a little surprised. It had been squashed into the packaging, but once out of the box it popped right back into shape. (A shape that, I was amused to find, strongly resembled a house-slipper...) Its sides are very flexible, and it is filled with a plush, fleecy material that is very soft. The cushion is removable, but you'd probably only want to take it out for washing, as underneath the cushion is only a thin, uninsulated bottom. If you turn the bed over, the underside is lightly textured with 'bumps', presumably to prevent it from sliding around on the carpet or flooring. It's pretty light -- there is no real weight or substance outside of the cushion to make it bottom-heavy, and while the flexible sides will give your cat the illusion of enclosed security, it won't offer protection against, say, an enthusiastic pouncing puppy or toddler. I read the dimensions, to the point of pulling out a tape measure, but even that didn't prepare me for the reality that it's.....shall we say, snug? I have a 14-15 pound fluffball, and when the bed first came in, I tried to gently persuade her to get inside. Unfortunately, this ended badly, as I ended up trying to push her in headfirst -- and there we both became stuck, because she had no room to maneuver or turn around! I finally gave up and just left the bed lying out. Later, I found her snuggled up inside it, but I hadn't seen her get inside -- so aside from either backing herself into it or magic, I have NO idea how she managed. In this case, with a 15-pound cat, it ended well, but I still wouldn't recommend this for your Maine Coon or giant Ragdoll....they might find it uncomfortably tight. For a smaller cat, however, it should be VERY cozy and warm! My biggest complaint isn't related to the quality of the bed, but that the bed's color on the site is not nearly as dark as it appeared on my monitor -- I picked this particular bed because I thought it would blend nicely with my red color scheme. The picture shown is a deep, reddish wine. In fact, it is far more like a lighter pinkish-brown, with an ivory interior. It has a velveteen 'nap' on the outside, which may account for part of it, but just be aware of this if color-matching is an issue for you.

Our cat LOVES this little cubbyhole! She couldn't wait 5 minutes after I got it to jump in it. She curls up and sleeps in it all the time. The other cat we have tried to get into it and a battle ensued~so funny. Would highly recommend this to any cat loverj!
