  • Thin pet mat, not really a pet bed

    I live in a remote area so it's hard to get to a pet store or costco to buy dog beds. I took a chance by ordering one online but should have waited. I read many, many reviews to try and find a good dog bed that was in my budget and settled on this one because a few people with large breed dogs had commented positively on it. The bed itself is good looking and appears to be very durable. However, it is very thin!!! At first I didn't take it out of the box because it appeared so thin and I thought I might return it. But that can be such a hassle and I thought the bed might fluff, like a comforter or sleeping bed. Not the case. The material inside the cover is like a very thin pillow, covered with a papery type case - sort of like a thin hospital or airline pillow. I have a 98 lb lab, 11 years and he needs padding for his old joints. There are more expensive, ortho beds out there sure. But there are also standard beds that are thick. I ended up putting this "bed" on top of one of his older beds that has been compressed quite a bit. The two together work ok. If you are looking for something similar to thick dog bed or pillow, this is not it. But if you are looking for something that is more of a ground cover, to be used in the car, or as a simple mat outside, this is a good option. We will put it outside in the summer.

  • Does this pet bed fluff or increase in size after being removed from the package? I ordered and just received it and it looks so thin. The specs say it is 4.5" high but right not it is more like a thin blanket. I wanted to check before taking it out of the packaging in case it needs to be return due to lack of loft.
