These clippers are pretty good for the standard home groomer. Do not expect proffessional power on this clipper, as you would have to pay above $$$ for any heavy duty clipper. My pooch had his hair extremely tangled unfortunetly and so these clippers had a hard time cutting the hair down. So, what I did was use the scissors to cut as many of the knots as possible and this helped greatly. The DVD mentions that its best to have your pet bathed and COMBED before starting the hair cut and this is very true. Combing your pet's fur before clipping will help greatly. All in all, it took me about 2 hrs on a very small dog to get the job done, but again, the dog had the hair very tangled. If it had been smoothed or combed, I suspect it would have been about 45-60 min job. The motor sounds good and not cheap. The problem is that the blade gets hot after about 10 min so you have to rest it a few times. If you can afford the more expensive ANDIS clippers go for them. These will be ok for the home user as they do get the job done. I believe there is a spray you can buy to spray on to the blade to cool it during use so that you don't have to stop to cool it off. All in all, I do recommend these clippers. I would rate them at the middle of the range because they are better than standard ones. So as long as your pet's fur is combed, these clippers will be great for home use.Read More
