This product is definetly a lot of condo for the money. Beats all other prices I've seen. It wasn't hard to put together at all just heavy. I would suggest having someone help you hold up the pieces while screwing them together so they don't fall on you. Other then that my cat loves it. I also like how its base isn't so big and can fit in a room without taking up all the space.
For the most part, this is a good product. When you first take the various parts out of the box, it looks intimidating. But if you follow the simple instruction sheet, assembly is actually fairly simple. The only piece that I had a problem with was the screw that attaches the little house to the third level. It seemed just a bit too short. I had to apply some weight to force the two pieces closer together, and the screw was finally able to grab onto the threads. Despite it's size, the unit is relatively easy to drag across the floor. Just don't try to tackle stairs with the assembled unit. This model's "floor footprint" is actually a little smaller than what's in the description. It measures 20.25" by 24.25". The larger numbers in the item desciption reflect the two upper platforms, which do stick out a little. After almost a month, the little mouse is still atached to the top level. A few drawbacks: If a cat get onto the top platform, it can get a little wobbly. Not to the point of it being in danger of tipping over, but I can imagine that it would be a little disconcerting for the animal. I positioned the unit so that the back of the very top level is actually against a wall. That prevents the wobble. Also, the third level seems difficult for a cat to get to. There are two intermediate platforms that attach to level two which stick out a little, but not enough to be terribly effective as "stairs." My older, declawed cat uses a low bookcase to reach the third level. The younger one, who is NOT declawed, actually prefers to climb the sissal columns. So far they're holding up well. The small platform on the bottom level is pointless and interfers with the dangling rope. Don't even bother with it.
We selected this cat tree for its height and narrow footprint. From the photo, the fabric also looked plush, though it is unfortunately quite thin and cats are not able to scratch that part like they would a carpeted material, so that part is pretty useless. It is also not fabric-covered on the bottom of the platforms, though this wasn't a deal-breaker for us, as we did note that from a previous reviewer. It does affect the overall feeling of quality, though. Specific Issues: 1. Assembly instruction were not great, but we got through that ok. No real issues except the next point.. 2. The platform that serves as a step to get up to the house had the hole for it drilled on the wrong side of the supporting platform. This caused confusion trying to assemble, until we realized that it indeed was backwards from the photo. Once we figured that out, we thought it was no big deal, until we finished assembly and realized that now there is no good way for our cats to climb to the house level, other than up the ropes, as the platform is now directly under the house rather than sticking out on the other side, giving clearance to jump to the house. This is hard to explain, but it is definitely an issue. We have a smaller cat scratch post that we ended up putting beside the tree, so that the cats can now jump up (they don't like to climb the ropes pole-style). This negates the purpose of getting a tree that was narrow since now we have to sit something beside it. 3. The house and platforms aren't solid wood or even particle board - they are some kind of compressed paper-board (not sure of exact term here), but it basically feels like thick, hard cardboard. I could easily bend it and break it if I wanted to. Pros: 1. Lots of ropes the cats like to scratch. 2. Despite it's apparent flimsy quality, it is actually quite tip-proof. I was surprised that something this tall woud be as tip=proof. We have large cats, so we will put it in a corner, but we didn't end up having to anchor it to the wall as we might have, so this is a plus. 3. The positive tradeoff for the material not being wood is that it is light enough for 1 reasonably strong person or 2 regular people to move easily, despite its size. 4. The cats do like it and one likes to sit at the very top (though he needed help from the secondary cat perch we added to get up on it, see issue #2 above). All in all, I mostly regret buying this particular tree. It seemed like a good bargain for the price and size, but I think I could have found something better. I would not recommend to a friend.
I purchased this unit for my 1-yr old cat and the new kitten in the house and am very happy the my purchase. The unit is very stable if it is assembled correctly and the cats enjoy it very much. It took only a few seconds for the kitten to attack this new "toy" but the older cat took more time to adjust to the little bit of wobble that occurs when the kitten is vigorously playing at the higher levels. Two weeks later, both cats are enjoying this unit so much that I don't mind having it in my dining room for the time being until I find a permanent place for it. The footprint of this unit is just what is says in the item description, which makes it very nice.... I have it in a corner, and put a heavy weight on the bottom level just to give it a little more stability for when the cats are really roughhousing.... My only issue is that I wished that the material covering the flat/level sections was carpet and not fake fur - I think carpet gives the cats a little more thickness to sink their claws into when they are climbing it. But it isn't a big issue, and certainly not one that I would let stop me from purchasing this unit. We love it, our cats love it. That's all that really matters, and it was far less expensive than the ones are local pet store was offering. I like to buy local, but sometimes the deals are just too good to pass up online and this was one of them.
This is an excellent piece of furniture for your cats to enjoy. I have 5 and they love it: . This is the third tower I've bought and by far the easiest to assemble. Of course the girls were trying to help while I was doing it. It's in my kitchen next to the refirgerator and they just love being able to get up high and view everything. I moved the older one out onto the front enclosed porch where the cats hang out. This one is nice and neat, not to bulky but very sturdy and stable. And LOTS of scratching posts. The older was was basically shredded by them that's why its out in the catio. Well worth the money.
This the perfect piece of furniture if your cat loves to watch the world from a higher perch. The unit is solid once it is together and so far our 3 cats of made it home. The only problem is the instructions. After a few attempts of going by the directions, I realized that the unit must be built from the top down. Other than that, I'd recommend this to anyone looking for quality furniture for a cat. The price is on par with other sites, but it's the shipping where you really save. Shipping was quick and it arrived in perfect condition. Overstock rules
I have 2 adult cats and wanted them to get more exercise. They love it! It also provides them with hours of fun and they sleep on it, too. It was somewhat difficult to assemble due to poor instructions, but it screws together pretty easily. My cats love the sisal posts and it has decreased the amount of scratching on my furniture.
