Having used a Bostic Electric Pencil Sharper for years with great satsifaction, I went shopping for a replacement, after I accidentally placed it to close to the stove, melting it. It was no longer functional. I thought a replacement would be easy, but not the case. I went to the local stores and purchased what I thought would be a comparable one to my old one, but not to be. I had to return two of them. I ordered the X-ACTO from Overstock and it does exactly what it claims to do. It cost less than the ones at the local stores and it works just fine. Thank you!

This product worked very well when sharpening 8 or 9 pencils. After that point it would stop working. It would start working again after it cooled off. In other words, it would get overheated after sharpening 8 to 9 pencils.

This little electric pencil sharpener works great. I'm slightly disappointed that the tray is a tad small and needs to be emptied often but it sure beats sharping a pencil by hand!

This pencil sharpener is wonderful. We use it for sharpening pencils for our teenage daughters in high school. We have tried others and this was gets the job done the best by far.

Terrible. Breaks lead while sharpening and chews down the whole pencil before s creating a sharp point. Seems to be askew and at a slight angle. Also the angle it shapens at is very acute, makes for a weird tip shape.

I volunteer in my daughters classroom. They always have dull pencils because their pencil sharpeners are always broken. They have gone through 4 pencil sharpeners this year and one of mine. Never mind that they don't sharpen very well when they are working. I bought this pencil sharpener after reading the reviews because mine broke when I took it to her classroom. I couldn't be happier! This is really a heavy duty sharpener. I brought home about 400 pencils and colored pencils from her class. Over the weekend I sharpened every last one of them without any problems. It was the colored pencils that were the problem with the other sharpeners, but it was not a problem with this X-acto sharpener. I would recommend it highly. Happy sharpening!

Aussie buyers beware if purchasing electrical items overseas, The voltage is different in USA, other countries and you will also need to purchase a voltage converter. The shipping could make it uneconomical to return the product.

This is a great product but completely unsuitable for Australian customers. I've since learnt about the different voltages we have in Australia compared to the US!! The machine blew up in my Australian socket (using an adapter plug). In future, Australian customers need to be warned about this issue and buy electrical appliances that suit our voltage. It may be possible to get a voltage converter, but the jury's out as to whether this is a wise decision!
