My first impression of the chair before buying my own was that it was super comfy and practical (I checked one out in a brick-and-mortar retail store a few months ago), but that it was way overpriced. Having bought one of my own, I still feel that way. Everyone else is charging $189 pretty consistently, and it is a lot of money for some tailored mesh around a small yoga ball, wooden frame and metal legs. In all reality, it's probably only worth about $15 in raw materials. Nonetheless, it seems to be of pretty high quality so far. I wasn't pleased with the lack of English-language instructions as I don't read German very well... or at all... however, the assembly was pretty straight forward. My kit lacked the appropriate allen wrench; but fortunately, I had one around the house, and it went together pretty smoothly after that. Overall, I love the chair. It's kinda funky when visitors to my house first look at it, but I always urge my family and friends to sit on it and try it out for themselves before judging. Most people seem to like it. Even more than the stylish form factor, the comfort and the durability of the piece, I'm even more satisfied knowing that it's helping me to stop slouching in my chair. I've been dealing with ongoing back pain since high school, and this chair definitely helps with my posture, and consequently, alleviates some of my pain. I'm considering buying another to replace my office chair at work. So, yes, it's expensive and the manufacturer is swimming in piles of money from the sale of each one, but Overstock is THE best price I've ever seen on this - hands down. More importantly though, if you want to help improve your posture and relieve/avoid back pain, the chair is worth it. But if you just need a reasonably priced chair and don't care about the style or health benefits, I'd keep looking.
My 7-year-old kid has Asperger Syndrome and is constantly tipping our chairs at home and school. She even broke a finger from a chair fall two years ago. This chair has kept her relatively safe, she gets the movement she needs, and we don't have to tell her to "stop tipping her chair" anymore. The chair is fairly light, so we even take it to places like therapy appointments. Before this chair, we would spend up to 20% of her therapy appointments just getting her to stop tipping her chair ¿ we were losing lots of therapy time (expensive) just trying to get her to be safe in her chair. This chair even works at our counter-height bar because she can kneel on the ball. The construction is VERY good, but it's also very simple ¿ I really think it's overpriced for what you get, but it's also the only chair like this on the market. It does fit adults better than kids. It would be nice to have a kid version, but this is working better than anything else we could find. If you get this chair, also note that the fabric should be taut around the ball after the ball is inflated; if it's not, then you need to keep pumping the ball. We had to call the manufacturer because it appeared our ball was fully inflated, yet the fabric was still loose. Apparently, the balls get a bit tough over time and require a bit more air than it appears.
Fun chair. Sitting on it now. Have had it for awhile -- like more than a year, and I have only needed to pump up the ball once. I love it.
I started noticing my HORRIBLE posture at work and decided to do something about it. This chair isn't it. My posture has probably improved slightly, but overall, not worth $***+. I still use it at work because - darnit - I paid that much for it. It seems to workout my abs ever so slightly. Also seems to workout my rear. That's the other main reason I keep it around- MAYBE it's doing some toning back there. Other than that, it looks cute, so that's nice. I would pay maybe $** for it- there's just too many other things that I would do with the remaining $**-some that I spent on this chair.
I had back surgery about a year ago and was looking for an office chair that offered some additional support/relief, as traditional chairs tend to aggravate my lower back. This little stool is great - it tucks nicely under my desk (or dining room table, actually) - and would be ideal for small spaces. I have also noticed that I use my abs much more for balance when using this stool - which is a nice little bonus! Oh - and I priced this stool and others by Topstar and Overstock BY FAR had the lowest price on the product - and for shipping. Don't hesitate!
Recieved my chair (in red) in about six working days of my ordering. In the picture it looks bigger but once you get it set up (about fifteen mins) its just the right size. Being tall 5'11 I have always had bad posture but ever sense I started using my chair I find that I no longer slouch and my abs are getting a work out too. Love this chair!!!
Very comfortable. I am able to sit at my desk for longer periods of time without back and hip pain.
The product is what I expected from the description. It was easy to put together. Works fine for someone only 5'2". Haven't used it enough yet to tell if it will have the physical benefits I hoped for. Overstock sent it very quickly and it was nice to have tracking info so I knew when to expect it. Five stars is for the quick delivery and clear info from Overstock. This was my first time purchasing from Overstock. (I did check them out on the better Business Bureau site--and ratings were fine. ) I'd be willing to purchase from them again in future.
I received my chair today. It took less than 8 days to receive my chair from ordering. I thought the chair was much bigger, but it's not. It does do exactly what it says it will do which will help you with your posture.I've noticed I'm using my abs and I have less slouchiness and pain in my back. I got the black one.It is nice looking and it took exactly 20 minutes to assemble, you just put on the feet and blow up the chair.
We got this to improve our posture while seated at our desks. It works great! It's easy to set up and it looks fun and cool too. We got more for our kids' desks at home. After having used them for a short while, the quality looks to be very high. Let's hope that perception continues over the years to come. Also, we especially liked that it's GreenGuard certified.
Great quality and stylish chair. Not hard to put together, although the instructions are not amazing. Well packed, decent delivery time and good price compared to other sites. This will be used as a receptionist chair at a private trianing facility- so it was perfect!
I got the green one for my 10 year old daughter and she loved it! It looks so cute at her desk and it is very comfortable. I will probably buy another one for my 7 year old son. People who see it want one. It is expensive but I consider it another piece of furniture so it's worth it. It costs less than a wooden chair and it's much more comfortable and better for you.
This ball chair is a safety concern; therefore, we returned it! The chair wasn't firm & moved from side to side. We were told that it would help us sit up straight & put less strain on our backs; but it actually put more strain on our backs & we were focusing more on trying to stay on the chair. Would not recommend this chair for any use.
