It's made out of thick cardboard, but it's sturdier than it looks. For the past few months, it has served as a trash/recycling center during parties and as baby changing table at all other times. For the 2nd use, we remove the plastic rings and put the bottom tray on top. Line it with an old towel and put a standard changing pad cover on top - voila!
Despite my concerns from other reviews, my wife convinced me to order this item. Big mistake. It appears to be made of cardboard sprayed with a very thin layer of plastic. I'd give it about 3 days before it was damaged in normal use unless you put it someplace where no one could could accidentally run into it, and it's not even close to being worth the cost. Sending it back at my own expense. Don't be fooled by the description, it's very cheaply made.
May say in description that this item is constructed of "polyethylene" but be advised that this is just cardboard with a plastic coating on it! Very disappointed with description as we were moved to believe it was constructed all out of recycled plastic. Might be ok for home use indoors but not in commercial environment.
