Cheap pen at a not so cheap price
I have used and collected fountain pen for over 40 years now. Retro 51 makes some decent pen, not great, but decent quality pen. This is not one of them. Light and flimsy, simply does not not have that high quality feel. I can buy much higher quality pens from China at 1/3 the cost. Overstock.com has a Waterman Harley Davidson pen that is a much better quality pen at 2/3 the cost, with an interesting design thrown in Not sure if this one is made in the USA, if it is, then the manufacturer really has not learned the mistakes of GM and Chrysler. Put a pen guy in charge, not a finance bean counter that cuts out the quality for a few extra cents of profit.

I love Retro 51 in general, and have several ball points that are exemplary. Unfortunately, this fountain pen does not live up to the same standard. Lightweight, it feels unbalanced in the hand. overall it feels a bit cheap. Nib is ok for writing, but it leaks, and not just a little. I've owned other fountain pens, so i'm familiar with their special needs for care and feeding. I've checked several times to make sure the cartridge is seated properly on the nib... tried different cartridges.... this is just a leaker. Can't tell if it's a design flaw or just this one that is poorly manufactured, but i am seriously underwhelmed. Can't recommend it... it kind of sucks.

A Very Fine Writing Instrument
This is a classic fountain pen! It certainly has that retro look and is well made and well finished. As a writing instrument, it more than does the job. It is well weighted in the hand (though it needs the cap to be posted) and the nib is beautifully smooth. The nib might not suit everyone - it is on the broad side of medium - but it suits my handwriting. I will get a lot of pleasure from this pen!

Bright and happy writing
I am an avid fountain pen user and have used them for over a decade. Most recently I lost a favorite everyday pen so I decided to buy an inexpensive one that if I lost it, it would not be such a catastrophe. I ordered this pen and was pleasantly surprised. It is an inexpensive pen but writes very well. The pen is bright, a bit light for my taste, but the ink flow is consistent and sharp. It is very attractive, easy to find on top of my messy desk. I wish it came with a converter but uses standard ink cartridges. Overall, I am pleased and will likely purchase another one from O.com in the future.
