I was hoping these would be delivered in the original packaging.....they were not. They were shipped in a clear plastic zip lock type bag. On closer inspection, I'm no wondering if these are some type of knock-off from the original & very nice PaperMate PhD grip pens. Looking at the chrome tip on my nearly 10 year old pen and comparing it to this black one I just rec'd, my older pen looks much nicer & cleaner & smoother.(Thus my lower rating.) Could just be the manufacturing process or material have changed or maybe its a good fake- I don't know but I can tell a definite difference over my old one - only time will tell how much this pen will hold up. But if you're expecting it to ship in the PaperMate packaging- don't be surprised when it does not.

This pen is pretty good for the money. It's a pretty obvious rip off of a Hinderer. It's a bit too big, especially compared to the Hinderer or CRKT Tao. It's also noticeably NOT straight due to lower quality machining. But for the money, yeah, it's great.

I love fountain pens and this one is great. I have to keep the lid on if I'm not writing or it dries up a little.

The Pelican Junior, if you don't mind the grip, is a sturdy pen and an excellent writer. It was made for young children (hence the fun colors) but it is a great everyday pen for adults as well. It comes with a medium nib that is "wet" and free flowing. Good to throw in a purse or pocket.
