this is a good shredder, rather short and the slide bar for on/off is not easy to get from one point to the other. It does work well, and there are no problems mecanically. Would purchase this item again.Read More
This is a good solid shredder. Great little unit and it even has wheels. I use it under my desk and roll it out when needed. It is a shredder after all so it does make some noise when in use but it not something in use all day long. It has a clear bin which is great because it is easy to see when it is full and it is real easy to empty. So if you are looking for a compact shredder I would recommend this one.Read More

Paper Shredder Buying Guide
For information security, a paper shredder may be exactly what your home or office needs to keep your personal and business documents secure. Shredding documents, and even media like CDs, can eliminate sources of sensitive information and keep them out of the wrong hands. This paper shredder buying guide will help you determine how to buy a paper shredder that is right for your information security strategy.
How to Pick the Right Paper Shredder
Certain office electronics are simply indispensible. Paper shredders in particular are an important part of office information security. Shredders protect the security of sensitive information and help with the disposal of documents and storage media. Anyone can select the office shredder that is best for their situation, but before you choose, take a few minutes to determine what your needs are.
How to Oil a Paper Shredder
Regular use of paper shredders creates paper dust that can dry out components, dull the blades, clog the machine and burn out the motor. However, with proper oiling and maintenance, a paper shredder can last for years.Oiling a shredder can be accomplished using one of two quick methods. The paper method limits excess oil to the paper, reducing the chance of it splattering when you turn the machine back on. This method is more common than the second and can be used with all kinds of shredders. The paperless method may be less common, but it is just as effective at removing dust buildup from the blades of the shredder. Whichever method you choose, read the manufacturer's instructions before oiling the shredder and be sure to use manufacturer-approved lubricant, as the wrong oil can damage the machine.
Tips on the Importance of a Paper Shredder
The reasons for using paper shredders range from the need to minimize disposal size to safety and data security concerns. Paper shredders are the first line of defense against improper use of personal and business documents. Whether you want to shred your personal mail or need to dispose of large business documents, paper shredders are a critical piece of office equipment for rapidly and effectively disposing of your most sensitive information.
Best Features of Paper Shredders
With identity theft on the rise, paper shredders are becoming more important than ever before. After all, a single bank statement in the wrong hands can give someone control over your account, something that a paper shredder can prevent from ever happening. Today's paper shredders come with a variety of different features, making shredders more convenient and effective than ever.
Best Ways to Use Paper Shredders
If you're concerned about protecting your personal information and sensitive documents, a paper shredder is an important tool for properly destroying documents. Paper shredders are made with multiple security features. Some shredders cut items into long strips, while cross-cut paper shredders go even further and shred documents into small diamond-shaped pieces. Here are some of the best ways to use a paper shredder to protect your identity and sensitive information. Shred paper documents. Shredding documents containing personal identification reduces the chance of someone obtaining personal information such as your social security number, address, birth date and phone number. Medium-sensitivity documents containing addresses and phone numbers can safely be disposed of with a normal cross-cut or thin strip paper shredder. For more private information and confidential documents, shredders that are medium or high security are the safest selection. These high-end paper shredders cut paper into even smaller pieces. Dispose of media. Some paper shredders are durable enough to destroy CDs and DVDs. As modern life becomes increasingly digital, more and more sensitive information is stored electronically. To protect this data, the right paper shredders reduce CDs and DVDs into jagged shards of plastic, making it impossible for anyone to retrieve sensitive data. Light-duty paper shredders won't shred plastic, but shredders that are medium to heavy duty are capable of shredding CDs and DVDs as well as paper. Destroy old credit cards. Simply breaking an old credit card in half or cutting it up by hand isn't really a safe way to dispose of these easily compromised items. To be sure your credit information is safe, run old or non-used cards through a medium to heavy-duty paper shredder. View All Paper Shredders Back to Guides Directory View All Paper Shredders
