Fellows DM8C
 from Utahj,  Jan 27, 2011

Its a good shredder, but it has plastic gears that wear out after a year and a half, It says that they are metal but when you tear it apart they have some metal gears but the run that runs from the motor is plastic and wears out.

Do Not Buy
from Seal Beach, CA,  Nov 27, 2010

I purshased the Fellows DM8C and it worked for a while then the wear and tear started to occur. If you are like many who want to shred a lot of mail and letters this will only work as you would expect for several years, especially at the cost. The internal drive has plastic teeth that keep the cutting blades properly spaced, and they break causing the unit to jam. It only gets worst after this. We used ours at home and it failed even with lubrication. Look for another brand this was our second Fellow's! S&S

Great little shredder
 from DC,  Aug 9, 2010

This shredder work exactly how it's suppose to. My only problem that i have with it is that they didn't include a shredder oil for the blades.

No metal gears
from Eugene Oregon,  Apr 30, 2010

Actually this unit does not have metal gears as suggested. After a couple years of modest home use one of the shredder heads quit turning all together. I opened the case to find all the nylon gear teeth lying in the bottom of the gear case. I found this site searching for possible replacement gears. It seems many people have experienced similar problems and replacement gears are not available.

Good buy
from SoCal Desert,  Jul 24, 2009

We had a ton of bills and old documents we needed to shred and this little guy did the job. I love that the paper fills up into the basket and you can just slide it out and take it right to the trash. It fits nicely under our desk too.

Best shredder ever
 from California,  Jul 7, 2009

I've had a few shredders. They always wear out too soon, overheat, start to get jammed, and then just die. This one has lasted several years already. The only maintenance we've had to do is oil it once and blow some air into the feed area to dust off the photosensor (if dust builds up, it will run continuously, but as soon as you clean the photosensor, it's fine). I've shredded CDs, credit cards, and fed whole file folders full of paper 8-10 sheets at a time for 15 or more minutes at a time... it just keeps shredding. This shredder is easy to empty, keeps the area around it clean, and is much quieter than other shredders I've had. Highly recommend.

Shredder
 from Maryland,  Feb 25, 2009

Very good shredder for normal household jobs. It can overheat if you try and do more than 5 or six sheets at a time.

Great Shredder
 from california,  Aug 22, 2008

Eats up everything I toss into it. Sturdier than others, and a bargain compared to the office supply store.

Paper Shredder
from Santa Monica,  Jul 19, 2008

I love this shredder. I've been saving my "need to shred" paper for almost a year . . . I love getting rid of all that paper and not worrying about someone stealing one of my account or social security numbers. It's easy to use and dummy proof to install.

Fellowes Paper Shredder
 from California,  Jul 15, 2008

Highly recommend this machine, it is so quiet and can handle a really thick wad of paper as well as cds, credit cards. Had a inexpensive shredder we had purchased from a very well known discount store and it was horrible, it was very loud and annoying, could not handle but 3 sheets of paper, was hard to empty. Our new Fellowes shredder shreds in to confetti size and has an easy to remove bin to make emptying a snap.
