It's a heluva chair!
 from CA,  Dec 28, 2008

This is a quality chair. First of all, the box was heavy..that translated into the chair being sturdy. Next it was a snap to put together. I am sitting in it now and it made me realize how BAD my other desk chair was. Face it, you spend a ton of time at the computer. You deserve a chair that supports you and is easy to adjust. IT IS THIS CHAIR. Also, it is a good size. The mid-back goes to the top of my shoulders-and I have a long torso. This is the perfect size for an office. Plenty of supportive foam in the right places, too!Quit the endless researching and just BUY THIS CHAIR!

Fantastic comfort!
 from Florida,  Jul 26, 2008

This is my first online furniture purchase and I was concerned about buying a chair without first trying it out. This chair will be used by my entire family including my daughter and husband. We were pleasantly surprised by how sturdy and well built the chair was. It is by far the most comfortable chair in our house. The chair easily adjusts to fit my tall husband as well as our very petite daughter. My husband has had a back for years and this is one of the few chairs he can sit in for hours at a time. Because of the extreme comfort for all of us, we felt compelled to write and thank Overstock for having a great chair on their site. The price of the chair was well within our budget. Thanks again Overstock!

not comfortable
from Chicago, IL,  Feb 22, 2011

I bought this chair based on other positive reviews and was disappointed. The quality of the build is great, the chair has quite a lot of adjustments for the price. However, there are notable issues with it: 1. The arm rests are not coming up high enough for me. This means that I can lean on one arm rest or another, but not both. In either case, I have to tilt to the right or left. I need to rely on arm rests not to put too much pressure on my wrists as I type. 2. The arm rests have a groove for your elbows. If they were rotatable, this would have been fine, but they point straight, which is not the direction of arms of a person at a desk. This creates an uncomfortable feeling in elbows. If they could rotate, or at least did not have a groove, it would have been better 3. The back does not have a lumbar support to talk of. The back of the seat is a wrong shape for me I have a dislocated lower back disk, but this chair is tending to bend me forward, I seem to be fighting this position all the time 4. The seat is slippery for me - my butt tends to slide forward and I end up putting all pressure on the tail bone. Overall the quality of the chair is great, it looks good, works well, only of shapes of some components were more fitting to my body! I can see that this chair could be great for other people, but unfortunately have to return it and spend more money and time to find an alternative.

Good value for the price
from Augusta, Maine,  Oct 20, 2010

I sit at my desk in front of a computer for basically eight hours a day, so I need a comfortable chair. This chair is good value for the price. I've had it for a couple of months now, and I have no complaints.

No back tension adjust
from Brooklyn, NY,  Oct 12, 2010

The padding on the seat is nice and soft, the chair is solidly built, and if you find this chair on its manufacturer's website you'll see it retails for over twice what Overstock is charging. Considering the low cost of shipping, it's a great deal. For my own use, however, I found the fact that you can't independently adjust the tension of the backrest to be a deal-breaker (you can adjust the tension of the overall tilt, wherein the angle of the entire chair, bottom portion included, leans back -- but you can only lock down the backrest or not, and I find that without locking it down you end up reclining too far).

Best mid-size computer chair value anywhere
from san francisco,  Jul 17, 2010

I just finished assembling the chair and sitting in it now, and I'm so incredibly pleased I found this deal on Overstock and didn't waste my money on a chair from a local big box office store (I sat in them all and they felt so much cheaper than this chair). This chair is much more substantial - much heavier, more plush but solid, just much much higher quality than chairs of comparable or even higher price that I could find locally. I could have gone to a specialty store and paid double or more for a similar quality chair, or paid even more for one with more options, but this is by far the best bang for the buck. Chairs are such a personal thing, it might not be right for everyone, but this will probably satisfy most people who are budget-conscious because of the quality and features for the price. Minor cons, all forgivable considering the positives and the price: - Directions at first confusing because parts aren't numbered (except in the instructions, but not on the little packages they come in), the diagrams are small, and one "step" is actually about 6 steps that looks much more complicated than it turned out to be. It's also not clear what should be done first or next in some "steps", so you have to think about what makes sense (for example, put the arms on the completed seat part, and put the seat on the post before finally attaching the back rest). Two of us assembled it in 20 minutes, though, so it turned out to be simpler than it looked. Tips: the casters just push on, not screw/twist. The completed seat bottom just slides onto the seat post - no attaching, screwing, or anything on that step. - casters don't roll that well on the medium-pile carpet. Works well on a low-pile area rug without a pad under it. -Make sure it will go low enough for you if you are a very short person, or else plan to use a foot rest or wear high heels. I am 5'7", and I have it all the way down for my comfort in bare feet. Also note this is a mid-back, not low back chair. The top of the back is above my shoulder blades, at the base of my neck (not a con, just fyi). I think this would be a better chair for a medium to large person (tall or wide), rather than a very small person. -cannot alter angle of arm rests - but this is a feature usually only found on more expensive chairs, so for the price, I will live with that. You can move them up/down with a push button, and wide/narrow using a knob under the seat, which is awesome. - I personally find the arm rests a little hard, though they are "padded". I think it is because they have a concave channel/groove down the center that works when your arms are straight, but if you arms rest on them slightly sideways, the edges dig into my arms creating pressure points. I would have preferred more padded arms without the concave shape. - It is not very exciting to look at if you are looking for a hip, modern chair. Bottom line: This is a high quality chair with a better-than-average set of adjustment features for a very affordable price, and will likely fit most people and last a long time.

Love it.
from Tampa Bay, FL,  Jul 27, 2009

Purchased this chair for use at work. It is perfect for those of us who have to sit all day at our desks. Comfortable and very nice looking. I love all the adjustment features, especially the chair-back tilt feature - feels great on my aching back! It is also very comfy for those of us with large hips & bottoms. Perfect fit. I might have to buy one for use at home!

Great Ergo Chair
from Silverton, OR,  Mar 25, 2009

I did lot's of research to find an ergonomic chair for use at home while telecommuting. Most chairs were well over $500 and not very comfortable. I was amazed at the quality of the chair and the lumbar support this chair offers for the price. It has a very comfortable wide seat that contours to your bottom and the back of the chair comes down far enough to offer the lumbar support needed to work comfortably. There are various handles for adjusting it, which many of the lower priced chairs just didn't have. The arm height adjusts as well, with wide contoured arm rests so your arms are comfortable & at the right level to keep from straining the shoulder and wrists. If you sit for 8 hrs a day you need to be able to adjust the chair to your body and how you work and this one allows for that. Overall the chair is very sturdy. Amazing price at Overstock for this quality of chair.

Great office chair
from Los Angeles, CA,  Dec 7, 2008

We ordered 6 of these for our office and they arrived in two days. Our staff loves these chairs. They were easy to assemble, and I can not say enough about how comfortable these chairs are. They seem to be very heavy duty and will last much longer than the chain store chairs we ordered last year. Great deal from Overstock. Thanks!

Finally My Back is Bettter
from San Bernardino, CA,  Feb 17, 2012

The chair is plush and firm and very adjustable. I read plenty of reviews before I purchased the product. My old chair was a $100 from Staples or something and it's true you get what you pay for, the chair was not bad but it was not this chair. This chair has a plush seat which helps keep you upright and the back of the chair makes sure your back stays in alignment. So since I have to stay seated for long periods of time this is the chair I needed.

  • How accurate was the sizing? Pretty Accurate

I was very hesitant to purchase a chair over the Internet without sitting in it first, but I did not go wrong with this order -- love this chair! I'm so glad I ordered it. It is very well made and very sturdy. It has all of kinds of settings for each person's comfort. I work from home and sit it in all day long. I highly recommend it!

Really good chair
 from CA,  Jan 31, 2012

I bought two (for me and my husband) and we're both very happy with them. Comfortable and plenty of adjustability. I actually like this chair better than the expensive Aeron I have at my office. Not the most beautiful thing in the world, but that wasn't really one of the selection criteria.

Great For The Price
from Fort Worth, TX,  Nov 13, 2011

I replaced a really cheap (***) office chair for my home office that I could never be comfortable sitting in. This new chair is very good for the price. While it does not have all the features of my office chair at work, it does have enough features for me to work comfortably from home. I have a bad back, so I was hoping the lumbar support would allow me to sit for long periods of time while working. It does, for me.

Worth the Buy!
from Houston, Tecas,  Nov 4, 2011

This one is worthy of the investment, people! I recommend this chair for anyone who has back and knee problems and whose job requires many hours of sitting. This chair is great because it has an adjustable back and seat that will allow positioning backwards or forward and you can adjust the height and tilt of the seat as well. The chair literally gives a lift when you stand to your feet, relieving pressure on the knees (almost feels spring loaded).and provides maximum comfort that allows you to stay on top of everything after many hours of sitting and restlessness.

  • How accurate was the sizing? Very Accurate
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Chair is very high quality, sturdy and comfortable.
  • Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? No defects

I would buy this chair again, very nice. Hubby put it together quickly. If anything, it has too many controls, but really is excellent.

Glad I bought it!
from Arlington, VA,  Mar 22, 2011

I read the reviews for many chairs and this one stood out, especially because I preferred fabric to mesh. This chair exceeded expectations. It's very comfortable, all parts of the chair can be adjusted and it was easy to put together. The people in our house range from 5'5" to 6'3" and everyone is comfortable. Highly recommended.

love it
from Worcester, MA,  Mar 8, 2011

Compared to the cheapo chairs I have purchased previously at big-box stores this one is MUCH better constructed, and it's super comfortable. The directions for assembling are really funny - they're definitely not what you would call "step-by-step", but if you have any ability to assemble things you'll be fine in my opinion.
