I am a teacher and need a dependable pencil sharpener. I sharpened probably twenty pencils with this sharpener and then it stopped working! Can the X-Acto company send me a new one so that I can try it again? Maybe I just got a lemon!

My principal gave me a brand new one for my 2nd grade classroom. It lasted exactly one year. When it broke I went and bought another -- again it lasted only one year. The motor works and it sounds like it's sharpening but it's not. I've checked for jams, nothing. It's just another dud.

I volunteer in my daughters classroom. They always have dull pencils because their pencil sharpeners are always broken. They have gone through 4 pencil sharpeners this year and one of mine. Never mind that they don't sharpen very well when they are working. I bought this pencil sharpener after reading the reviews because mine broke when I took it to her classroom. I couldn't be happier! This is really a heavy duty sharpener. I brought home about 400 pencils and colored pencils from her class. Over the weekend I sharpened every last one of them without any problems. It was the colored pencils that were the problem with the other sharpeners, but it was not a problem with this X-acto sharpener. I would recommend it highly. Happy sharpening!

This is the BEST electric pencil sharpener I have ever bought! As a 2nd grade teacher I sharpen hundreds of pencils every week. This sharpener is very fast. It costs more than the average sharpener but I won't be buying a new one every few month due to the cheaper ones wearing out all the time. Don't be surprised if all the teachers in my school order one from Overstock.com!

This is my new favorite pencil sharpener. It's fast and does the job. Interestingly, it's not very loud, which I can appreciate since I live in a small apartment. Not too many things to say about a pencil sharpener, but I like this one.

I am loving the pencil sharpener! I only wish the insertion whole was larger. It only uses the #2 size pencil. When needed, I just pull out the hand-held sharpener to do the larger pencils. But now, I can keep a stack of regular size pencils already sharpened and in stock for my 7 year old grandson.

My 6th graders go thru sharpeners very quickly. Have had this one for 6 months and still working although at times it eats the pencils.

I used to buy sharpeners in the $20 range. Now, I bought a more expensive one, and the difference in price is worth it. My daughter, who uses pencils everyday with homework and designing clothes, is very satisfied with this sharpener.

I have had this sharpener for about 6 months now and use it on a regular basis for graphite and colored pencils. This little machine carves a point faster and sharper than any other sharpener I've ever used. You quickly learn that it takes only a second or two at most to turn a dull point into a razor tip. Even when sharpening a new pencil it works really fast. It would be nice if the sharpener came with an automatic stop but it doesn't take long to get used to its quick work. The strategy I use is to slip the point in just enough to start the motor but not cut the pencil; I then push the pencil into the blade and quickly rotate it 180 degrees and then pull it out. The tip is so sharp you can hurt yourself if not careful. It does take a little time getting used to working with such a sharp pencil. With colored pencils I can only use the lightest of pressure or the tip will break off. It usually takes about ten seconds of full use to bring the graphic/wax down to where more pressure can be used. I've sharpened over 40 pencils in a row without the motor overheating and have never had this issue, that was so common in other sharpeners I've used. So far this is a great little machine.

Adding a recessed light above the shower provides welcome illumination while showering. Recessed bathroom lighting is perfect for the ceiling above the shower because it does not take up any space over head. A special moisture-resistant bathroom light fixture is required in the shower because the area is subject to so much moisture and humidity. You may replace an existing light fixture or install a new fixture after an electrician runs the necessary wiring. Choose a simple recessed light or select a light-and-heat-lamp combination or a light-and-fan combination.

Complement your mirror with coordinating shelves for towels and a vanity sink with room underneath to put larger items, such as cleaning supplies and toilet paper. Choose a bathroom cabinet that will be big enough for placement of items for you as well as for overnight guests.

If your kitchen could use an update, installing a range hood is an effective way to change the look and feel of the entire room. A range hood is a great way to reduce cooking odors and excess heat from your kitchen. The range hood helps prevent grease build-up around your stove by pulling the vapors from cooking up into the hood and its filters. When you're looking at range hoods, the most significant choice is between a range hood vent that vents to the outside or an under cabinet range hood that simply pulls the air through a filter. With a few tools and some planning, you can install a range hood yourself.
