Self Nice wood feel, good size, and the wood look is richer than the plastic I had been using. It comes rolled up with a cloth backing holding the slats together. The edges of the slats are rounded a little to prevent splinters. When rolling over this mat when it is placed on carpet you can feel and hear the chair wheels crossing from one slat to the next. This isn't bad, but is different from the plastic mats which I have been accustomed to. My hope is this mat will last a lot longer than the plastic ones which crack after a year or two. Time will tell.

Looks great, works alright on carpet I have a berber carpet in my home office with stiff carpet pad underneath. The desk chairs have casters so I needed something to use under the chairs. The horrible plastic chair mats always sank under the casters and curled up on the edges. These bamboo mats stay flat, but sometimes I accidentally roll my chair off the lip which is quite noticeable because of the thickness of the bamboo. The joints between the slats are also noticeable, but not bad. It has stood up to my chair and my 5-year old's chair with no wear marks in two months of daily use so far. I like the fact that I can roll this mat up, put it in the bag that came with it, and stand it up in a corner of the closet when I need to use the office for a guest room. Overall, a good product.

Looks and feels great, easily damaged The mat looks and feels great. It's well-built, attractive, and works very well on the 12" tile floor that I have. However, after a couple of weeks of use, I've noticed tiny little pits in the surface. It looks like crumbs or other small debris have made tiny dents as I've rolled over them. In other words, the surface is not very hard -- so be careful with it!
