Review of Mayline Eastwinds Laptop Caddy Functionally, this exactly what I wanted, and at a good price, BUT... the workmanship is mediocre. I've seen similar units at a lower price than this one, but this is the only unit that seemed to adjust as low or as high as this one does: 25-inches up to 37-1/2 inches. The larger portion of split desktop tilts to one of three positions in either direction, so both right- or left-handers can use the caddy, a definite plus in my household. The three wheels attach securely to the base, and have locks to keep the unit from rolling, although on my hardwood floor, it's possible to slide the wheels, even when locked. The vertical post adjusts in fixed increments of about an inch, up as high as 37-and-1/2 inches so the desktop can be used by someone standing, and as low as 25-inches, for wrist-healthy, comfortable use when sitting in a regular office or kitchen chair. The design does not easily lend itself to being used when seated at a sofa, unless the person is seated at one end and can slide the long leg underneath the end of the sofa. Then it would be awkward to rotate it away when getting up from the sofa. I use it in my den with an office chair, so that was not a consideration for me. The three-leg design is very stable with my 5-pound notebook computer aboard. The larger portion of the desktop is generously sized, so even a large notebook computer with a 17" screen should fit, but of course, check the dimensions before ordering. The tilt mechanism adjusts securely to a total of seven positions, including the center position of zero-degrees ("flat horizontal"). The larger desktop surface has a plastic 'ledge' securely attached to both top and bottom, so the computer remains in place, even when the surface is tilted. You push the upper spring-loaded lock mechanism to tilt, and pull the lower spring-loaded lock mechanism to adjust height. My office chair has a gray fabric, so I ordered the gray top instead of woodgrain. The two halves of the desktop have an attractive dark gray granite-appearance. Despite being 'particle-board'-type material, the desktop pieces have metal bushings inserted underneath, so they bolt securely to the rest of the assembly. Assembly was easy, requiring only an allen wrench (supplied) and a phillips screwdriver. Now, about the workmanship: The legs and lower vertical post have a finish that's best described as a milky clear coating over polished aluminum. The upper vertical post attached to the desktops has a shiny chrome steel appearance. The difference in finishes is noticeable when the top is extended above the lowest position (25-inches). The legs on my unit were welded onto the attachment bracket slightly askew, so the leg assembly does not bolt completely flush with the three mating surfaces of the vertical post that supports the desktop surfaces. The legs are very strong, and it doesn't affect the stability or function of the unit, but it does look SHODDY. The plastic bushing between the upper and lower halves of the vertical post is too loose, so the top is capable of rotating up to 1/4-inch laterally around the vertical post. It doesn't sound like much, but it's annoying when the top and computer moves slightly during typing. I inserted a thin piece of pasteboard on two sides between the bushing and upper post, and that closed the gap and stopped the movement. The unit may have been damaged in shipping. One of the three plastic end caps'for the legs was cracked and lay in the shipping container when it arrived. It has absolutely no effect on function, but looks bad, and keeps falling out. The parts list does not show a part number for the end caps, so I cannot easily order a replacement end cap without ordering the entire leg assembly. It's not worth the trouble of filing a shipping claim, since the unit will be in my upstairs den 99% of the time, out of public view. In retrospect, if the workmanship was perfect, the unit would probably cost twice as much. It's 100% functional, but only 25% aesthetically pleasing.

We were pleasantly surprised by the size of this desk - nice and tall (perfect for me at 5'8" tall) and wide enough for a large laptop and mouse pad to fit comfortably on top! The shelves are great for holding our big printer/scanner and other assorted items. I haven't found any other ready-made standing desks on the market that are comparable to the quality and price of this one!

This laptop mat places the computer at a comfortable typing heighth, but not quite enough "stuffing" to keep board from pressing against your knees.

I purchased this table to replace a TV tray I was using for my laptop table. Overall, it is a great product and is very sturdy and stable. The tilt adjustment is easy to use and stable. My only real complaint is with the base legs. The legs in the center are longer than the legs at the end of the base. If you have a low piece of furniture that the legs will not go under, like my reclining sofa, the table will not sit straight to the edge of it and is a bit farther away than is comfortable. Other than that it is a great product.

Quite easy to assemble, snugly holds the laptop in the tilted position, comfortable and ergonomic in use, rolls like a dream, and great price. I'm quite happy with it!

I bought this for my teen daughters room. She only had a little spot in her room in which to put a desk/computer and this fit perfectly. The desk appears well made - the cherry color matches her bedroom furniture perfectly. My husband put it together quickly & easily. The bottom shelf is a bit too narrow for her CPU to sit in the normal position so I set it sideways. I just didn't feel comfortable with it hanging over the edge (as you see the CPU in the picture does). Sideways worked just fine - she can still access the on/off button & disc drives easily. Be forewarned - it's a lightweight desk/station. Don't sit or lean on the desk top, don't prop your feet on it, etc . If you use it for what it is intended, I'm sure you will get many years use out of it. For the price - it was a very wise buy.

I love this product! It is very comfortable while you are sitting on your laptop without a desk. Usually when I use my laptop, it gets really hot and uncomfortable on my legs, but this is great to use and it also is elevated so it is a lot more comfortable.

I have enough room on this mat to put a coffee cup or use my mouse. No heat from the computer is emitted through the sides or bottom. The lap cushion is comfortable on my lap and raises the computer to the right height. Overall, I would recommend this over a fan operated laptop mat.

Honestly, I am not an online fun---really is not comfortable to buy something only by seeing from the photos. Only a few try of online shopping. This is my 1st time to buy such a big furniture online, plus my friend referenced the overstock a very good place to shop at. Overstock did give me a really really good online shopping experience. When the huge package arrived, there was some tear on the box. We were really unhappy from beginning... but nothing we could do with the delivery guys. Later we contacted with overstock service, the phone operator is such wonderful guy, he let us just go head assemble the furniture, and found out all other defects inside. After we assembled the whole pieces, total found 2 scratched piece. The overstock promised to replace them at one time. They resent the pieces to us very quickly in a few days without any concern and delay. Almost forget to say this product, this furniture is really big, and luckily my office room is big enough to fit it. The service from them are excellent!, now I start to shopping with them...

going on a long car trip and needed a laptop table for the trip- checked alot of different styles and ordered several others- but this one was the best! large enough to use the wireless mouse the bean bag packing makes it very comfortable on your lap for long periods of time- did a trail run in the car and it worked out great the curve in the board is a great feature to it fits snug to your waist. I used it while sitting on the couch again worked out great the material that the table is coverd in is a plastic of some sort and it keep the laptop and mouse for sliding. If you need a laptop table- this is the one to get not need to look any further and oh yea the price was great from Overstock and of course the shipping and turn around time too.

Excellent Large Desk --- requires two people when it comes to joining large pieces together after setting up connections. High Quality MDF and melamine top. Some tiny air gaps between desktop and "legs", but can be tightened further if need be. Desk is very stable, and most of all, comfortable to work at. Highly recommended! Also - saw the same desk at other websites and stores; Overstock undercut them by at least *** in most cases, sometimes even more.

This was my first time ordering from overstock. Their price on this product was 75$ cheaper than any other website. I looked at tons and tons of laptop stands but they all just seemed cheap and unstable. I spent a little more for this product but is truly a great buy... Super comfortable... I really love the wrist pad. Id recommend anyone to buy this product. I have 3 crazy dogs and I know my laptop is secure on this table!

As a student and journalist, I do most of my work on my laptop sitting on the couch at home. Working with the computer in your lap for extended periods of time is not ideal for your back and neck, nor does it allow for maximum efficiency and organization. This laptop caddy addresses those issues while allowing me to sit in maximum comfort and adjust my position often. So far it's been everything I hoped it would be, including easy to assemble, adjust and roll under my couch, which is about five inches off the ground because of its feet. I suppose it would be nice if it swiveled since that would greatly expand the ways you could position it, but the laptop holder/supporter on both sides of the main surface part means you can flip it around and have the mousepad part on either side. I got the cherry wood color, and it looks pretty nice from afar but clearly not wood up close. I wish they made a silver or dark brown/espresso colored one, but this is fine because if I have people over I'll roll it into my bedroom anyway. The wheels roll well when unlocked and stay put when locked, which is what they're supposed to do. All adjustable parts are really easy to deal with.

Beware that this is for standing or sitting on a stool. The base does not rotate or slide from slide at all . Its bolted down. You cannot use while in bed or comfortable in a chair.

The laptop stand was easy to assemble, it took less than an hour. It is the perfect size for my laptop computer. I can roll it anywhere in my apartment with ease. What I most enjoy about the stand is the many ways it can be adjusted for comfort of use. I highly recommend this stand.

I love this stand, it slides under my recliner and bed, makes it much easier to type and more comfortable. I had surgery and this is a great option for me to comfortably use my computer. I also can use this for a dinner tray, there is the extra attatched side table for a mouse or other items as needed. Great product!! Definately would reccommend this laptop table as it can be used for more than just a laptop.

Not terribly well constructed, but probably will hold up. Instructions clear and easy to follow. The biggest problem is that it simply is not long enough to fit comfortably over a bed. You cannot lie back and use it. It is fine for use in a chair, but that is not the reason I bought it, and judging by the gushing reviews, I expected more.

This rolling laptop table is a great addition. For those who tend to sit on a sofa or in an easy chair while working on a laptop, this stand dramatically improves the work experience. The hooded casters (which are lockable) allow me to pull the laptop into a comfortable working position and then easily push it away. It is well constructed and was very easy to assemble. I only wish I had purchased one much earlier.
