I did my research all over the Internet on office chairs before I bought this one and after reading the 81 reviews. I ordered the Boss 990 from OVERSTOCK. I ordered it on a Sunday and it arrived on Tuesday morning. The reviews indicated it was difficult to assemble and took 2 people to do it. Two people would work but I was able to do it slowly by myself . The short story how I did it goes like this: Take your time then take your time. Read the directions then read the directions again. Look at the pictures and look at the chair. All the bolts are on the bottom of the seat. DO NOT TAKE ALL OF THEM OUT AT ONCE. Remove them as needed for each part as you go along and don't tighten them down all the way until the whole chair is assembled. Added feature, each bolt comes with LOCK TIGHT already on it. Believe me, if I can put it together so can you.
I am 67 years old, 6 feet and weigh in at 325 lbs and every joint in my body hurts at various times and degrees. This chair is wonderful. The seat is larger than my petite buttocks and is ever so comfortable. The lumbar feature hits the small of my back perfect for support. It reclines just right so I don't flip over backwards and the cushioned arms are the right height and comfortable. I probably won't fall asleep in it but that is what my recliner is for. I really like this chair.
Bottom line, this is a big beefy office chair for a big beefy person and feels like it will stand up for many years to come.

It was easy to put together. It is the perfect chair for a 6'3"+ 300lbs person. If your small and weigh only say less than 200lbs the set can be stiff and may be uncomfortable because like it says it is made for Big and Tall people. I love mine!
I would have given this chair 4 or possibly 5 stars had it been much easier to assemble as suggested by previous reviews. I am diabetic with foot and leg problems and find lifting quite difficult. This is a heavy, albeit well made chair. I barely managed to assemble it alone but definitely could have used some help. An extra pair of hands is needed to hold parts in place for a proper alignment so that screws are inserted properly. As a result, some screws did not tighten all the way in and I don't think some would have tightened correctly even if they were aligned. I found it very difficult to align the arm assembly without another pair of hands. Also, I absolutely could not insert the back "hex" bolt. It would not catch in the threads. This does not seem to affect the feel and operation of the chair -- so far -- but I think the bolt could have been longer or some other design for insertion is necessary. All this being said, the chair does seem very sturdy, ample enough for a large person (300 lb.+) and so far very comfortable. I do not think it's easy for one person to assemble however.
The chair is easy to put together. It looks good and the fabric wipes clean easily. However, it is the most uncomfortable chair I have ever sat in. It is like sitting in a hard kitchen chair. I am going to have to go out and buy a seat cushion for it.
I just ordered my 2nd one of these chairs from Overstock and paid 1/2 of what I paid when I bought my 1st one 6 years ago. Yes, 6 years ago. I am 6' and 350 lbs. and have medical issues. So I sit at a computer desk all day and night, and virtually have lived in this chair daily for 6 years, as I bought my first one in June 2008. After years of inferior chairs, constantly breaking, I discovered the Boss 990 and ordered it. As others have mentioned, the assembly might be hard for some but not me as I am a retired mechanic. Anyway, the chair was unbelievably comfortable the first time I sat in it. Compared to all previous chairs, it was a Godsend. I am sure I gave my chair much more use and abuse than the average person would, and so after 6 years some of the caster wheels finally gave out, and the padding on the edges of the arms has been banged into my desk and also got chewed by my dog when she was a puppy so I decided to order a new chair. Considering how well built and how long and how much I use this chair I can recommend without reservation, this chair to anyone who is large and needs a "comfortable" chair that is built like a tank and will last for years.
Bought this chair for another individual in the company, but they decided to go with a different chair instead. I took it initially to return, but put it at my desk to test drive. Great seat, full and comfortable. Very good price and shipment was quick. I am pleased that I decided to take this chair for a spin, with no more thoughts of returning it.
Finally an office chair for us big guys!!! I have had my chair for over 3 years and it is still like new. Only drawback is that it doesn't fit through the average door frame, so assemble it in the room you plan to use it.
I read this might be difficult to assemble, it is a heavy chair. I enlisted my mid-twenties daughter who had no problem assembling it in an hour and a half. The hold up was that the screws in the back were in so tight that we had to bring out the electric drill to loosen them to assemble the chair. Overall assembly was not as difficult as expected.
I have not been able to use the hydraulic chair lift to adjust the seat level, don't know if it is broken or not. Luckily the chair as assembled is about the right height for me (5'8"), don't know if I could adjust it higher. .if it would move, I would like it a little higher but again, for the price and expense of disassembling it and returning it, I will make do.
Chair is nice looking and overall comfortable.
How accurate was the sizing? I am a Plus size woman and this is still a large chair. . happy about that, it should be a good fit for any larger size person
Please tell us about the quality of the product. Good, very heavy duty quality, I bought this to last and I think it will.
Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? No it was not free of defects, when I unpacked it, the front of one metal arm, which should be grey had a noticeable "thumb size" scrape down to the black metal, no way to fix that but too expensive to send it back.
Overall I think this chair works fine and does the job of holding my big behind. 6'5" 337
That said, during assembly I noticed several of the nuts that are recessed into the seat appear partially stripped. Be very careful rethreading once all is together. Plus, attempting to get the cross bar connected with the supplied bolt and allen key IS a pain. Be prepared for it to grab your fingers once the bar slips into place. OUCH! Ya really gotta bend steel here.
The chair sits really well and absolutely does not creak while sitting and doing "work" spreadsheets on the Mac. I can actually lean back and not feel if the seat back is going to break. NICE!
I have not used the chair on my hardwood oak floor yet, still have a plastic floor protector between the two. We'll see.
Seriously, if you are a big man/woman then I don't think you can go wrong. Several reviews on another internet site state that the cylinder fails after a short while or some other complaint. Right now, I've had this chair all of 48 hours, we will see.
Happy Happy Happy, right now.
How accurate was the sizing? Perfect
Please tell us about the quality of the product. The quality is good. I'm rather surprised, the material appears as if it will wear well and of course only time will tell.
Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? During the assemble process no defects were found.
I did not purchse the warrenty. We have this chair for 5-6 months now. It's a very solid chair. "...in case it breaks?" I doubt that it will break; however, it depends on what you are going to do with or on this chair. For normal usage & with smart set up, there is no way that this chair will break.irishka8 on Feb 8, 2013

I think it would be most helpful for you to read some of the reviews. Number 3 on the link I am sending you, the gentleman also had limitations and found it difficult. Everyone else said very easy. Number 3 said he could have used help.
