This is an excellent product and Overstock.com delivered it fast and efficient
I have a finicky DVD player and a Netflix account. The combination used to result in a lot of aggravation. After reading a review of the Aleratec 240131, I decided to give it a shot. It is by far the best optical disc repair system I've used and the easiest to use. Just a few drops of solution on the pads and hit the button. I don't find myself using the cleaning system a lot, or even the abrasive discs, but I end up needing the repair system on just about every Netflix disc I get. It has made virtually every disc I have thrown at it playable. Two gripes (other than that it is a little noisy): 1. If you leave the cleaning solution in the cleaning pads, the springs will rust. Why couldn't they have used stainless steel? I end up pouring the solution back into the bottle after a cleaning. 2. The refills are no longer sold separately. You have to buy the "value pack." I don't use the three systems equally, so it's kind of a waste. I'm looking into alternatives (this unit seems to be marketed under several different brand names). Nevertheless, this is a great product.
So, far it has fixed some very important DVDs and CD (3 year olds). I would recommend to any parent of a media junky
This DVD repair kit only fixed the first DVD we tried to repair. I would spend more money on a better product next time. You get what you pay for.
A bit of a pain to use, takes a while but really works. If you use Netflix or own a lot of CDs and DVDs and have kids you NEED this.
I rent DVDs from Netflix, and sometimes I receive discs that are scratched and unplayable. Instead of requesting a replacement, I pop the damaged disc into the Aleratec DVD/CD Disc Repair Plus, and it cleans / repairs it to nearly new condition. Refills are a little pricey. You can purchase a whole new unit for a little more than the price of a complete refill set.
