I have used only a few of these to make a mat outside the garage door onto my lanai. They were easy to put together, and are a great dirt catcher. With two dogs and a sandy yard, there is still tracking into the house, but it's much less now. The rough surface of the lanai has kept the 3ft. by 4ft. section in place - no slipping around, which is great for safety. The surface is not slippery to walk on, either, even after a rain. I am planning to use the rest to make a shower "floor" for an outdoor shower, also on the lanai. I may order more as I come up with uses for them. I like them that much.
One suggestion - having some strips to finish the edges would make it look more completed. As it is, two sides look like I still have more to be added on.
How did the image on site compare with the actual product? Perfectly

Installed this over my entire ~1800 sq/ft concrete in-ground pool deck. It stretches fence-to-house-to-pool edge (with some space for heat expansion) as one completely uniform floating floor. Made my pool edge cuts (complex curve) and fence cuts (straight) with a scroll saw. Covered the rough edge pool cuts with slit soaker hose and secured with small plastic tie wraps through the tile drainage holes.
1. Cheaper than stripping and resurfacing per my estimates
2. Really nice uniform look over a varied surface slope. Space looks larger. Drains are covered, but still work.
3. Easy DIY install/maintenance/replacement
4. Great Non-slip Surface, especially in rain.
5. Dirt/Mud stays under tiles away from feet until flushed to drains by rain or hose. (No mud tracking during pool use).
6. Cooler on the feet. Can get real hot here.
7. Easy to cut and shape.
1. Picking a starting row for a continuously connected install is critical to the look you will get and the amount and types of cuts you will need to make - take care planning it and trialing it before committing with cuts.
2. Heat expansion can cause initially unpredictable temporary binding leading to temporary buckling. Can solve this by finding binding locations on edges of completed install when hot and relieving pressure by trimming with an electric multi-tool.
3. Plan for scrap when ordering.
4. I found the edge trim that goes with this to be useless for my application (few of my boundaries were square)
Overstock has hands down the best price for these block tiles, given the manufacture could price this product slightly lower. I recently covered my entire screen in patio and it took 6 box at 30 pieces per box to complete. It really stands out verse just painting, and that you would have to do as often as every year. I plan on doing my garage next in the gray rather than the brown I've used on my patio. It rained a few times since and within an hour the water drains or settles below making it a solid safety product.
I'm just curious to how these will winter. I love the look of them ,but if live in canada and it gets real cold here like -25 .I know this product is really durable ,
But scared they will get brittle over time being exposed to the elements .would love to here a review from someone that experienced a winter with them :) all
The reviews are from warmer climates .
Great product. I purchased two boxes of these tiles to cover a condo balcony. Per our HOA rules we cannot put anything permanent (i.e. real tiles or paint) on the balcony so this product provided a great solution. Having holes allows water to drain when raining. The color is true to the picture. It is a bit brittle and pretty hard to walk on with bare feet. Overall, this is an inexpensive solution to nicely covering a patio, balcony, or garage floor. I especially like the option to taking apart the tiles if a future tenant requests.
I have recommended this to friends with condos in my building. It is perfect for our porches, about 5x9 in size. They are lightweight but strong, easy to install and to replace pieces later if needed. These tiles replaced the expensive wood ones that had lasted about 8 years. Replacemnet cost for those was about ***. These were a perfect solution. My 3 grandchildre, ages 5, 7 and 9 did the carrying up to the second floor and the entire installation. I observed and instructed. They loved doing it. I recommend them.
Several years ago, we had covered our cement patio with the wooden interlocking tiles. They looked nice at first but then the sun caused them to fade and we had to paint/stain them every year. This got old very quickly so we looked for another option. That is when we found the BlockTile Deck and Patio Flooring Interlocking Perforated Tiles. We originally purchased 11 boxes of the brown color and did the same area that we had covered with the wooden tiles. It looked so beautiful, we decided to purchase 9 more boxes and do the whole patio! We couldn't be happier with the results! It has a clean modern look and the best part is that other than sweeping it occasionally, no maintenance is required! The tiles have small holes so it isn't a smooth surface but I don't find it uncomfortable on bare feet. We have a patio cover so the tiles are somewhat protected by the sun and do not get hot. However, if not covered, the brown tiles could get a bit warm in the hot summer sun.
I highly recommend these patio tiles to anyone who wants a quality tile and a modern clean look. They were very easy to install and are easily cut to fit. It took no time at all to install the tiles and transform our patio!
Our backyard patio was in dire need of repair. Not only did it have a major crack, we "painted" it with concrete paint and after a couple of winters, the paint was peeling. It looked horrible. We called to have it resurfaced and that was going to cost us over $1300.00. Then we came across these tiles and they became the perfect solution for a lot less money. They arrived quickly, were easy to snap together and they look beautiful.
Our only problem is that we only need 3 more tiles to finish off the steps and we don't want to purchase an entire box. Perhaps Overstock will sell them on a "per tile" basis too!
I bought these tiles to make a few mats for my pool area. I had been using regular door mats by my hot tub & 2 screen doors to yard. The water used to stay under mats & destroy the painted patio. I put these together to form a large mat for hot tub & 2 smaller mats by doors. They are working perfectly. The air circulates under mat & they dry out quickly. I did have to snip off the connecting loops along edges to make them look more finished, but that was easy. They are very comfortable on bare feet. The brown color is more of a reddish brown tone.
I need to replace the wooden decking on an 8' x 50' second-floor outdoor deck. What kind of base should I have to install these Deck Squares? I am an older DIY lady, but I think I could handle this.olddiylady on Aug 18, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello olddiylady, the rigid material of these tiles allows installation over a slightly uneven surface. It can be used over any concrete patio floor or wooden deck floor, but it cannot be used over gravel or stones. We hope this helps, and thank you for shopping with us.overstockcustomercare1 on Aug 20, 2014
My area is 24'10" x 7'10", therefore the tiles must be trimmed to fit. Trimming would remove either the loop or the eye edge. How would I attach the ramp edges to the trimmed side of a tile?amcherry on Jul 24, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello amcherry, they wouldn't attach to a trimmed side of the tile. Have a great day!overstockcustomercare1 on Jul 30, 2014
we cut at 1 end and secured the outside house molding above the cut. dont remove any inside loops.jamie54 on Aug 8, 2014
I would like to put this on an upper level wood deck (there is another deck below the upper level). Where does the water drain to on these tiles? Does it fall through the mesh onto the wood deck I install it on? because then I would think the wood might rot and will also drain down on the the lower deck.evariz on Jul 12, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello evariz, you are correct. The water drains under the tiles and would leak down to the lower level deck. These would not keep the lower level deck dry, they are designed to create a durable surface but the water does run through them. We hope this information is helpful to you. Thank you for shopping with us. Vicki Hoverstockcustomercare2 on Jul 15, 2014
I installed teak deck tiles on my patio 2.5 years ago. The plastic backing has cracked and broken over the years so tiles are loose. How sturdy is the backing on these tiles?k246 on Jun 27, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello k246, the BlockTile interlocking flooring is made of high impact polypropylene, so it is strong and durable. The
loop-to-peg Interlocking installation is very easy and useful for many applications. The tiles are one piece, there is no backing. We hope this helps, and thank you for shopping with us.overstockcustomercare1 on Jul 9, 2014

Do these Block tiles interlock with the Block carpet tiles? I want to cover the floor of one room with the carpet tiles and transition from the carpet to the tile in another area. Do they both connect to each other in the same way?theresaterri on Apr 20, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Yes theresaterri, all our 12”x12” Blocktile products can interlock each other. However because of carpet thickness, transition can be slightly different from height. I hope this helps, thanks for shopping with us.overstockcustomercare1 on Apr 24, 2014

1st. Is it easy to cut thru these tile if the size of the yard end up to be 5.8 instead of perfect 6 piece?
2nd patio has a lower point in the middle for drainage, how does it fit since it's rigid surface? do i have to put "sand" to even out? what's your recommendation?
3rd if so, will the sand and underlaying materials come out?
4th how much do i need for 11 x 28 ft patio?upbeatcorner on Aug 14, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hi upbeatcorner, we were able to verify this information with our support team. First of all the tiles are easy to cut with a utility knife. 2. We recommend to use a leveling compound so the drop on the drain is minimized. We do not recommend using sand. The tile has a grid underneath and it would sink into the sand. 11 x 28 requires 308 sq ft. That would require 11 boxes. Each box has 30 sq ft. We hope this helps. Thanks for shopping with us. overstockcustomercare1 on Aug 15, 2013

what is the difference between Ramp edges as far as with loops or without and when would you use each one? wanting to finish edges on roof deck?dizzyred on Aug 4, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello dizzyred, the looped or non looped edge refers to which side of the tile you are connecting to. The tiles each have a looped or a peg edge, You would need the non looped ramp edge for connecting to the looped edge of the tile, and the looped ramp edges would connect to the peg edge of the tile. In essence you would need both types of edges if you were finishing all 4 sides of this flooring. thank you for shopping with us.overstockcustomercare1 on Aug 7, 2013
Hello joetown2621, we recommend using a jig saw other electric cutting device to cut these tiles. thank you for shopping with us.overstockcustomercare1 on Aug 7, 2013
Will these tiles support the weight of large appliances? Can large appliances be easily moved over these tiles?2cadiyguygal on Jul 5, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Thank you for your question 2cadiyguygal. Yes, the BlockTile Deck and Patio Flooring Interlocking Perforated Tiles will support the weight of heavy appliances. However, heavy appliances should not be dragged on top of the tiles as they can scratch. If the appliance has wheels, it can simply be rolled over the tiles without any problems. Have a great day.overstockcustomercare1 on Jul 11, 2013
The dimensions for the tiles are: 12 x 12 x 0.5 inches, in answer to your question the tile is 1/2 thick.
