Very functional
I have used only a few of these to make a mat outside the garage door onto my lanai. They were easy to put together, and are a great dirt catcher. With two dogs and a sandy yard, there is still tracking into the house, but it's much less now. The rough surface of the lanai has kept the 3ft. by 4ft. section in place - no slipping around, which is great for safety. The surface is not slippery to walk on, either, even after a rain. I am planning to use the rest to make a shower "floor" for an outdoor shower, also on the lanai. I may order more as I come up with uses for them. I like them that much. One suggestion - having some strips to finish the edges would make it look more completed. As it is, two sides look like I still have more to be added on.

Thank you for your question and I apologize for the delayed response. These lovely tiles are designed for patio/deck flooring, so they have UV protection. With direct extended sunlight they can get warm, as with most patio furniture.

How are these tiles secured to a vinyl covered waterproof flooring material. The existing vinyl is in good condition, except that it is discolored; hence, the need to replace/cover it. Also, it would have to be cut to fit around existing railing posts. How easy is it to fit into that situation???

If the vinyl is smooth, I believe they'd slide too easily without some kind of gripper underneath. Mine is by the doorway on my lanai, which is textured, and even though I can move it with my foot, it stays in place when I walk on it. I can't imagine that cutting it would be a piece of cake, but it is a bit flexible, so a sturdy cutter (maybe wire snips?) might work. The loops that connect the tiles together would have to be removed too, if that bothered you. I left mine on in case I want to reconfigure mine.

These perforated tiles use a loop-to-peg interlocking system making them very easy to install. Installation is as simple as snapping the tiles together like a children's block set. The tiles interlock together by aligning the peg to the loop and pressing down with your fingers or a small rubber mallet. Making them easy to cut. Happy shopping with our everyday low prices.

How are the tiles secured to the surface? I am wondering if these would be appropriate to put down over painted wood floor on porch. Also, if aiming to do a pattern with two colors, could the 30 tiles ordered be a mix of 2 colors ( in one order )?

Thank you for your question. Yes, the Interlocking Perforated Patio Tiles (SKU 14982460) are installed without securing them to the subfloor. Yes, these tiles are often used to cover painted wood floors. Regarding the color options, each case comes with 30 tiles (30 sq. ft.) of a single color. So, if you are wanting to use two different colors, then you would need to purchase different colors.
