handle doesn't click in to lock at the various lengths. but too much hassle to repackage and send back for exchange... so living with it. The backpack itself is fine. but handle sucks.

Room enough for books, small jacket, and lunchbox. Built with sturdy materials, smooth wheels, stylish. I thought the pull handle locks in 2 positions, mid-way for small kids, and all the way up for adults but it doesn't. I know Jansport rolling backpacks do. Anyone know if I got a defective backpack or this is the design?

I have bought many rolling backpacks for my kids. This one has been the best by far. It has lasted 6 months of rough use and still seems like it has a lot of life yet. One of the backpacks that I bought is rolling loud. I am getting an 80 percent refund from Overstock. THis is very fair. I will be buying another Calpak. My kids have a ton of homework every night so these have been loaded down.More info....It also has a lot of great features. (carrying handle on the bottom, mp3 speaker wire hole, several small pockets in front, a key attachment that locks the key in so it doesnt fall out.

I bought this for my son who just started middle school. While I admit I didn't spend big bucks on it, by the second week it was already wearing in the corners from the books in the bag. Maybe it's not meant to carry books? My son also told me that the wheels lock up on it sometimes. Kids these days have to carry so much and I so wanted this rolling backpack to work, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Great rolling backpack- very large and tall enough for even the tallest of books. Very smooth and quiet and a lifesaver when I have to lug 6 books and notebooks. Only downside is handle does not lock up- but as long as you are pulling this is not a big deal. If you sometimes push your bag, this isn't for you.

Bought two of these (one in red for my son and pink plaid for my daughter) My 6 year old and 4 year old loved them. I could put snacks for the plane, "surprises" crayons, paper, books, etc. easy to roll around, handle adjusts. I won't lock in the shorter position, but it didn't seem to bother them if it ended up long. They both loved being able to have their stuff with them and go through the airport, it wasn't heavy like a back back (we just rolled them) and so easy to roll. You can use it as a back pack, and it has a great cover flap so that the wheels (which would naturally get dirty from rolling) are protected from your clothing touching them if you use it as a back pack - avoiding getting your shirt dirty. But they are so great as rollers, and so much lighter than what my standard backpack felt like on my back - I am now getting one for myself too. The back packs stay upright well (so we used them to store the books and art supplies while at grandma's to save on getting them spread all over the house. The packs also have a handle right on top, when you just want to shift the pack a bit. Fit perfectly under the airplane seat in front of us (which is what you want so you can get items out ("mommy I want a snack, mommy, i want my crayons and coloring book, mommy I want my teddy bear..."). Only one large pocket and one smaller, which I thought would be a negative, but in the end I could find things more quickly than I could in my big, multi-pocket backpack. Very Happy with this purchase - and such a great price!!

the handle is loose. it will not locked to desired height. if you pull it up, at a slight touch it will drop down.

This is a very poorly made bag. My son used it twice and it broke already. The handle does not lock and the bag is very small.

I got this backback on wheels to carry all my books to class. I am really glad that I did. I like all the pockets and water bottle holders on the side! The only thing that I would change is that the handle doesn't lock into place when its up. Sometimes its slides down when I am turning the backpack around.

I like everything, but I wish the side pockets had a draw string,or a zipper. Something could drop out easy, there isn't anyway lock items in.So I won't use them. That is way the 4 stars.

Bought for my daughter to use in 4th grade this year. Broke in 2 weeks. Handle came off on one side and the screw was lost. Also, there is no way to lock the handle from going back down. I would not recommend this bag.

my nine year old daughter loves this back pack. came in red, her favorite color, and the handle adjusts and locks into place so easily. even my two year old can figure it out :) plenty roomy for all her supplies, and not too many pockets to forget where she stored things.

the quality was good just there is a one things i would like see change, but for the price it was good enough. I would like to see the handle lock in place, the pocket are very very roomy... the pocket were big enough for me to get someone to monogram my son's name on it for summer camp. i have only had it for 2 week so far so good lets see how it comes back from summer camp.

I bought this backpack for my 9 year old for school. I like the size and seems roomy enough for his books. What I don't like is the retractable handle. There are two lengths - medium, and then fully extended. The medium setting is perfect for his size (fully extended is WAY to long), however, when you pull the handle out, it does not lock to the medium setting, it goes all the way to the fully extended position. To get to the medium setting, you have to push the handle back down while holding the bottom of the bar up, making this a TWO handed process, otherwise the handle and bar will just insert itself back into the backpack. I don't know if my backpack is defective, or if this is just the way it is. If this was a piece of travel luggage, this would be unacceptable, but since it's for school, we'll see how it goes.

I ordered this back pack for my daughter because she wanted a yellow back pack and they are hard to find. The price is good and the size is too. My problem is that there were some defects and it is not made of the best quality materials. The first thing is that the zipper on the largest compartment was not sewn down at the ends so the zipper pull kept breaking sliding completely off track and had to be repeatedly re-fed into the zipper track several times until I sewed the ends down and made a "stop" across the zipper to keep the pull from sliding off. The second issue with that zipper is that the fabric is stiff and it keeps the zipper from sliding around easily. Sometimes it just won't go without you having to adjust and pull the fabric to straighten the zipper more. The third problem is that the handle doesn't seem strong enough to make it through the school year with my daughter. Because my daughter is content with the back pack now that I have the zipper pull locked on to its track, we will keep it, but I'm not really thrilled with this purchase.

I chose this backpack because it was available in a lot of different colors and it was large and it had wheels. I have five children and we just completed a trip to Italy and France. I am more than pleased with the performance of this product. I felt it was consistent with the product description. I liked my children each having a different color but the same style. It was easy to know who was responsible for each bag. My youngest just turned five years old and this was easy for her to pull. Even though the handles do not lock (the one draw back), my five year old would push it down to the level she liked and off she would go. The handle stayed put. The handle at the top made it easy to lift up stairs. Though all our travels, we didn't have any complaints about the bag. Two of my children did take laptops with them and it was a tight squeeze, so be warned if you have a large laptop. The flap that covers the wheels just barely fits from one wheel to the other. They should have widened it by an inch or two. I would not hesitate to recommend this backpack.
