Olympia Olympus 14-inch Messenger Bag

I got this so I had something to carry my nook color and it is perfect for my needs the middle pocket is where I keep my NC the small pocket is where my wallet goes and whatever else I need goes in the big pouch. It looks good, lite weight and washable. Also it was a GREAT price

Main compartment is spacious enough for my toddler's juice cup, a snack, change of clothes, wipes case, small toy, my glasses, travel hairbrush & a paperback. Front 2 compartments perfect for wallet, lip gloss, anti-bacterial, iPod, notebook, etc. I'm a longtime fan of messenger bags. However, I was frustrated that many had the flap, but no zipper to hold items in that main compartment. This is perfect. Best features of a messenger bag (many compartments/not super girly), but without the worry that all my stuff would suddenly spill out of my open bag at inconvenient times. Cell phone pocket could be a bit wider/larger. & why can't manufacturers make bags/purses with lighter colored interiors? Why must we spend so much time rummaging in the black holes of our purses? This one's interior is the same color as exterior, but still... white or beige would have been better.

My daughter was very pleased with this messenger bag. It is roomy enough to carry a book, writing materials, and snacks, yet small enough to not be cumbersome like most messenger bags. She likes the neutral army green color that doesn't clash with what ever clothing colors she's wearing and finds the organizational aspects of the bag to be very good. Also, it was important to have a tote that has a zipper on the top so that when she puts the bag down and it falls over or slides off of the car seat, nothing gets lost out of it.

I debated giving this 5 stars or only 4, but decided to be generous. Why did I buy this bag? My wife and I just returned from touring France and England. While there I decided I needed something more than my compact camera bag that held my small digital video cam and regular digital camera and not much else.. There were too many times where I was left juggling a small umbrella and windbreaker for days where it was rainy and cool in the morning and warm and sunny in the afternoon or vice verca. Then there were the sunglasses, maps, guidebooks, and souvenirs picked up along the way. My wife did not want to be the pack mule for all of this. I needed a bag that : 1) was not too large so as to be heavy and bulky but big enough to hold that umbrella, rolled up jacket and other junk, 2) did not cost an arm and a leg because it would sit in the closet for 48 of the 52 weeks of the year, 3) did not have a large flap-over closure with little magnets or such that could come open and spill stuff while throwing it around on buses and trains, and 4) did not look like some fru-fru man purse. I looked at about a half dozen retail and discount shops in my area and shopped online. This bag seemed to fit my needs. When I opened the package this morning, I was only mildly disappointed that it was smaller than advertised. The ad says it's 14 inches long, but that includes the little pockets on the ends. The actual bag is only about 12 inches long. However, it does have three separate zippered pockets for that umbrella, cameras, jacket, etc. It is made of heavy canvas and it has that old "war surpous army field-bag" look so it "ain't no man purse". I feel like I could take this to motorcycle rallies and not be laughed at or punched out. Overall, I'm happy with the bag.....if it were just maybe an inch or two longer.
