Olympia Discovery
 from WA,  Feb 20, 2009

I bought three of these becase they seemed to be a good value. I liked the idea of the spinning luggage and though they would be great to use as carry ons. Big mistake. I used them for one week, the fabric handles(vinyl) tore on two of them right away. The wheels did not spin as easy as I had hoped they would, infact they are small and quite clumsy, they tipped over as well. We flew on a 747 (I think) and the bags did NOT fit well in the overhead bins. These bags will not last you for the long haul. The only thing good about these bags are the appearance!!

20-in spinner suitcase is adequate
from Kansas City, MO,  Oct 11, 2010

I own a larger spinner, and absolutely love it, so thought a spinner in any size would be desirable. Well, I was wrong. The small 20-inch spinner is simply too small to spin. The handle is too flimsy to use it to spin the suitcase next to you, and it's too low to the ground to use without the handle. When I received the suitcase, the chemical odor inside the suitcase was overpowering, and it needed several weeks to air out (with ample supplies of Bounce and frequent applications of Febreze). That said, the suitcase itself is quite spacious for its size, it fits very nicely into the overhead bins of airplanes, the outside pockets are durable, and I feel that it is an excellent small suitcase for short trips. My only concern regarding the longevity of the suitcase is the handle, which seems to be of poor quality and I fear will not last as long as the suitcase itself.

Poor construction
from North Palm Beach,  Dec 2, 2009

I received this bag and just used it for traveling this last Thanksgiving holiday. It does not want to stay upright once you pack it. It tips right over if you don't hold on to the handle. I am so disappointed with it. I have never had this kind of trouble with other brands. I would not suggest you buying this. Drove my husband crazy!!!

It's a good buy...
from Pasadena, CA,  Jan 7, 2010

I've only had the opportunity to use the upright spinner once so far, and the experience was pretty good. It spins well, and it can hold A TON of stuff! Be careful not to use the extension if you want to fit it without struggling into an overhead bin on an airplane. My biggest complaint is that the design means even if you pack all the heavy stuff at the bottom and towards the back of the case, the case still has a tendency to tip forward if you don't watch out! I don't know yet how it will hold up over the long term. I can tell that the pull-up handle may not stand up to being pushed on all four wheels if you pack heavily. It's a big flimsy to be used that way.

Very Nice
from Ft. Myers, FL,  Sep 5, 2009

This was delivered quicky and looked as represented. I went on a 6 day trip with only a purse and this carry-on with my laptop inside. There is a LOT of room in this piece! The only thing that made me not give it 5 stars is the fact that the handle is not adjustable in how far you can pull it out, and it comes out a little farther than I need. I've realized 4 spinning wheels isn't quite as versatile as I imagined, but this is really a great deal for the money. No regrets.

Carry-On Luggage
from Dallas, TX,  Jul 18, 2009

I bought the olive Discovery 20-inch Upright Spinner about 1 year ago. I have traveled to several locations with it and have been very satisfied with every aspect. I think it is great, because it holds a huge amount of items for its size and it is easy to manuver. I have checked it without receiving any damage to the carry-on itself or the contents inside. I purchased the Heys 5.5lb. carry-on at about the same time, but it does not fit as many items and has no pockets-(I didn't think I would miss the pockets so much). Lastly, I am afraid to check-in the Heys, because the outside gets marked up so easily. I just purchased another Olympia 20-inch Upright in black for my son to enjoy when he travels. Hope this Helps.

Cheaply made
 from NC,  Jul 22, 2011

I ordered this set before taking a 10th anniversary trip to Vegas with my hubby. We didn't want to have to check our luggage in and were looking for carry-ons. This suitcase is a little bigger than the measurements given online. Thank God they didn't stop us and make us check them in. We ordered the red and they are actually dark pink. The suitcases were fine on our trip, but when we got home, one of the suitcase's zipper was starting to come apart at the seam. When I took it out to use for the third time, about a quarter of the seam was already undone. I went ahead and repaired it myself with a needle and thread. Hopefully the repair will keep for a while longer.

  • How accurate was the sizing? Too big

olympia discovery carry on spinner upright
 from colorado,  Jun 28, 2011

This piece tips easy and does not go down the aisle of an airplane as stated. It's hard to up in the overhead if you actually utilize all of it's pockets. Would be a good piece for usage other than airline carry on travel.

  • Did the product fit true to size? yes
  • How is the quality of the product? material quality is good
  • Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? yes?

Spacious but not very agile
from Midwest, US,  Feb 22, 2011

I purchased the 20" spinner and I like the size and the color. While I think it's very sturdy in construction, the wheels do not perform as I'd hoped. I found myself having to exert additional force to move it. I packed it full, and it just didn't seem like the wheels could handle the weight, in spite of the fact that the instructions accompanying the package suggest packing heavier items at the bottom. I got what I paid for.

Horrible front pockets
from Hurst, TX,  Jan 21, 2011

First, this is a nice sturdy bag. The spinner is great for guiding through narrow airplane walkways. The water bottle holder is a nice feature (hint: bring an empty bottle, fill at a water fountain, saved $4 not buying airport water). Unfortunately the front pockets are nearly useless. Where the front pockets on most carry-ons have zippers that zip along 3 of 4 sides and open wide. These bags have zippers are only about 6"-7" wide along the top. So, you can't put a magazine or a bigger book. If you have larger hands, you have a difficult time getting things in/out. If the bag is somewhat full - forget about using them altogether.

perfect carry on
from Minneapolis, MN,  Jan 11, 2011

my old carry on sometimes didn't fit well in overhead bin. this one is great. I really like the olive color, easy to find on baggage carousel if checked. lightweight but seems sturdy. I have been using it for several months and no issues. the handle seemed flimsy but has not had any issues. the wheels work well and give a smooth "ride". I would recommend this suitcase for the value and the user friendly features it offers.

Durable and roomy
from Seattle, WA,  Sep 29, 2010

My husband loves his new cabin-friendly suitcase. We just returned from a short but rigorous trip and he frequently commented on how durable and roomy this carry-on is. He is a heavy packer and I was shocked that he didn't have to check luggage for our five day trip. The 360-spin feature is the only way to go from here on out, too. If it were me, I would give it 4 stars, only because I like snazzier looking luggage, but he gives it 5 stars. All black works great for him.

Carry on Luggage
from Los Angeles, California,  Sep 29, 2010

This bag is the perfect carry on size when traveling via airplane. Very compact, but roomy. If you roll your clothes when packing, you can manage to pack enough for one week. It's a great pick up and go bag with extra little pockets for those last minute items, you can't live without, that you remember while you're running out the door to catch the plane. I love the four wheel feature, not only for mobility, but for just standing upright while waiting in line at the airport. Nice looking little bag. Well worth the money.

Luggage
from Los Angeles, CA,  Sep 14, 2010

This piece of luggage has plenty of small pockets for random storage. It also spins well in all directions. I have had two trips across the country in the last month with it, and it seems to hold up well to lots of packing and unpacking. At maximum capicity, it barely makes the overhead storage compartments in larger airplanes.
