I love this messenger bag and I'm a woman! I love the thick sturdy shoulder strap and the nice leather with all the pockets available. The only downsize is the pockets to the left and right of the outside of bag like for your cell phone could slip out because it doesn't have a snap or velcro to close the pocket but you can always by some velcro to remedy that. The main opening of the bag is big enough for any 8 1/2 x 11 or bigger books which was my concern. This is a nice leather messenger bag at a good price!

I was looking for a messenger bag for the new look of today (skinny jeans). The bag is really nice. I was surprised for $40. shipped. I also bought one for my sister who thought it was a very nicely made bag. Thanks Overstock.com. That was a good deal especially with $1 shipping.

It's holding up to my 11 year old son. I ordered the red to help with visibility when walking to school. The clips are a little plasticy - but haven't worn or cracked and we are through 1/2 of the school year. I should have ordered one of these for myself.

This bag was given to me as a gift. I wanted a dressier bag for school, and a nice everyday bag once I graduate and enter the professional world. This bag caught my eye because of the terrific reviews but also because of the price. My fiancée bought it for me for Christmas and it arrived just in time. I have used it almost daily since 1/1/12 and this review is being written on 5/16/12. With over 5 months of nearly daily use it isn't showing a single sign of wear. The bag is a perfect size to carry my laptop (which is a a thicker laptop), plus 2-4 books, depending on the thickness of book (my average book is maybe 1 1/2" at the spine). The front pockets (under the flap) are big enough to hold the charger, plus a bag of cough drops, tissues, maybe a travel thermos. The zippered pouch is perfect for pens, etc. The only complaint I have is that the side pockets (for a thermos, water bottle, etc.) could have been a little larger. I could barely get my thermos (a fairly small thermos, maybe 3" diameter) in the pocket. It fit, but it took some force. I'd buy this bag again. If it stays at the reduced price (when it was bought it was on sale for $**), buy two! It's a perfect gift for a college grad who is about to head into the workforce. You cannot go wrong with this bag!

I travel a lot and wanted something that was durable and stylish and professional. This bag has a padded laptop pocket but also has a number of convenient pockets and, importantly, a zippered closure inside to keep hands out. Have only had for 1 month but I like it a lot so far. I think it could work for both a woman or a man

My husband and I picked out this bag to be used as his work bag. We're returning this bag - it's not what we thought it would be: 1. The handle on the top is situated more in the back which makes the weight distributed unequally. 2. It is quite a fat bag - the width is larger than you think. 3.We didn't like the overall look. A little bit cheaper looking. We're just looking for a more traditional looking bag.

I would definitely recommend this bag for traveling. It was perfect for our 2 1/2 week trip to England, France and Italy. It fit nicely in front so I could keep it safe at all times, the locking zippers and the wire mesh inside gave me so much peace of mind, especially in Rome. The size was great, I had enough room for my poncho, camera, flip camera, phone, notebook, credit cards, wallet, and personal items- I even had to stuff it full one or two days and it never lost its shape. I was frustrated with the buckle on the strap- it frequently slipped which made the strap longer, I kept having to shorten it. Also, by the end of the trip, one of the inside pockets broke, the seams came undone. Even though there were a few issues with the bag- I will take it on all of my big trips, however I would like to get a replacement since the pocket broke.

For the money this is a good bag. While I have had the bag for only a few weeks it is holding up well but there are a few things that I do not like about it. I do not like the fact that it has plastic snaps instead of metal (the clip that slides into the bag is plastic and the outside I believe is pot metal painted a brass color). While the bag has a lot of room if you put your laptop and a few other things the flap does not want to completly close. All and all though I will use it until I can buy a better one that will be closer to what I want. This is a good bag if you do not have or want to spend several hundred dollars on a leather bag. It is holding up well and I do like all of the pouches but is is a little heavy with a laptop and bulky. The leather should get softer over time and that will most likely make it a little better, time wil tell. Overall I am happy with the bag for the amount of money I spent on it and like I said if you do not want to spend or do not have the money to spend a couple of hundred dollars than this is a good bag for the money. Here's my take¿ GOOD: - price - all-leather construction is great, as well as the partially fabric material belt which is more comfortable than a leather one - grab belt - lots of different pockets COULD BE BETTER: - leather is on the lighter weight and soft kind - the belt is too long, but I'm the short side¿still, wish there was more adjustability - pockets all seem large¿not enough small ones - wish there were more closures on some of the internal pockets (snaps, velcro etc.) I had three basic requirements for a bag I was shopping for: 1. all leather 2. grab handle 3. brown This bag fit all three and stood out to me because of the price and simple styling which won't look too dated for a long time to come (if ever). Overall, the good out weighs the bad, especially when you factor in the price. I had the belt shortened at shoe repair place for $10, but I'm on the short side at 5'6" tall, plus the fact that I like my bags riding right at my waist¿ can't stand bags that hang low, not to mention it being bad for your back. Cosmetically, I think my only complaint is that it looks a little "too new" for my tastes, but that's easily remedied as it ages naturally over time. As I said already, it's made of softer leather, so those expecting sturdy stiff cow hide should look elsewhere. This bag is made of leather similar to soft leather fashion jackets. Still, it's leather which means it cleans easily, more resistant than cloth materials and of course, has "the look" of leather if you care about that. For the price, however, none of the negatives I mentioned are too critical as far as I'm concerned.
