I bought this black color messenger bag because of so many positive reviews although I have already had 5 messenger bags from overstock. In general, it is a good bag in terms of leather quality and size. But the shoulder strap is about 3 inches wide and the bag itself is only 8.625 inches wide. I think it might look better on a male. I still prefer the "Amerileather Front Flap messenger bag" or the Teddy vertical messenger bag which has a good width of shoulder strap proportional to the size of the bag. A very wide black strap over a small/narrow bag looks funny to me.
My bag arrived and I must say the strap is quite thick as previous reviews have stated. However, I do not mind because the messenger bag in general looks quite sturdy and durable. The purpose of ordering this bag is that there are times when I do not want to carry my totes/larger handbags. This messenger bag will work for me, it's not too big and it's not too small.
This is a beautiful soft leather bag and very well made. It is comfortable to wear in the cross-body style. A good size bag, it's got room for everything, yet it is not huge. Very nice.
I personally LOVE this bag. I know others have complained about the thick strap, but for me, it is absolutely magnificent. The thick strap keeps the bag on my shoulder when I wear it over only one shoulder. Most purses I've had constantly slip off my shoulder, driving me crazy! Most of the time I sling it around in front and it is extremely comfortable in this position. The expandability allows me to carry only a few things, or stuff my gloves and earmuffs in the purse during winter shopping.

I am quite satisfied with the item overall. The only caveat is that its classification as a "messenger bag" may be misleading, given its limited dimensions and therefore its modest carrying capacity (on the other hand, I believe that its dimensions had been disclosed as part of its description). As for aesthetics, I've received a number of compliments on its appearance. Moreover, given its quality, the price was excellent.
