Locking - Backpacks

Bought these before a marathon Megabus trip with two changes of busses each way. Bags held up to the handling of the employees. Toted them all over Manhattan and I had to note they were MUCH quieter rolling than MY less-expensive wheeled backpack. We had them CRAMMED FULL even using a space bag to stuff a sleeping bag in each one along w/ a week's worth of clothing and the zippers held up. Wondering if it is possible to buy replacement backpacks if something happens to the ones that came with the piece. My only complaint is that one of the snug-straps that fastens to the backpack on each bag does not "lock" when tightened, so had to tie the webbing in a simple knot to keep it from slipping. That side of the buckle is not made to lock tight when snugged up. I thought that was weird, since, w/ out the backpack on, these straps can be snugged up to take the strain off the zipper like luggage straps. But all in all after a 6 day trip w/ a lot of Megabus riding and transfers and hoofing it all over Manhattan, they still look good and work fine!

I bought this backpack for my 9 year old for school. I like the size and seems roomy enough for his books. What I don't like is the retractable handle. There are two lengths - medium, and then fully extended. The medium setting is perfect for his size (fully extended is WAY to long), however, when you pull the handle out, it does not lock to the medium setting, it goes all the way to the fully extended position. To get to the medium setting, you have to push the handle back down while holding the bottom of the bar up, making this a TWO handed process, otherwise the handle and bar will just insert itself back into the backpack. I don't know if my backpack is defective, or if this is just the way it is. If this was a piece of travel luggage, this would be unacceptable, but since it's for school, we'll see how it goes.

I got this backback on wheels to carry all my books to class. I am really glad that I did. I like all the pockets and water bottle holders on the side! The only thing that I would change is that the handle doesn't lock into place when its up. Sometimes its slides down when I am turning the backpack around.

I have bought many rolling backpacks for my kids. This one has been the best by far. It has lasted 6 months of rough use and still seems like it has a lot of life yet. One of the backpacks that I bought is rolling loud. I am getting an 80 percent refund from Overstock. THis is very fair. I will be buying another Calpak. My kids have a ton of homework every night so these have been loaded down.More info....It also has a lot of great features. (carrying handle on the bottom, mp3 speaker wire hole, several small pockets in front, a key attachment that locks the key in so it doesnt fall out.

I thought this bag was good for my application until I received it and found it EXCEEDED all my needs. What a fantastic bag with more features than I was counting on. Highly recommend this bag as it is compact, waterproof, locking device and LED light inside with additional pockets for business cards and all your specialty needs. HAPPY!

I bought it as a school bag for my high school son. This is the second one we have bought. First one lasts about 2 years. The bag held up good except the handle would not lock after 2 years. He loves the bag for its spacious compartment. The rollers help to save his back because he needs to carry so many books back and forth to school. It is a good buy. I will recommend it to anybody.

Great rolling backpack- very large and tall enough for even the tallest of books. Very smooth and quiet and a lifesaver when I have to lug 6 books and notebooks. Only downside is handle does not lock up- but as long as you are pulling this is not a big deal. If you sometimes push your bag, this isn't for you.

I plan to take this backpack on a trip to Germany this summer. I have a purse from Travelon that is anti-theft that has the same locking features. It's a nice safety feature. This backpack will allow me to take water, an umbrella, my camera and a coat on my sightseeing adventures!

Room enough for books, small jacket, and lunchbox. Built with sturdy materials, smooth wheels, stylish. I thought the pull handle locks in 2 positions, mid-way for small kids, and all the way up for adults but it doesn't. I know Jansport rolling backpacks do. Anyone know if I got a defective backpack or this is the design?
