I have had a few pocket watches over the years, not only does this one look good, it has that old timey feel, you know, heavey in weight, a good sign of well made product. It keeps perfect time and I don't think you could bust it with every day wear and tear. The chain is one of the best I have ever seen, I like the hook on the end, easy to fasten or unfasten to my bibs or belt loop. A fair price for a watch of this quality.Read More

My wristwatch was the first thing to go when I retired about 3 years ago. However, even being retired, one still has to interface with a world closely tied to “time and date.” This led me to consider a pocket watch. I wanted an open-faced watch with a quartz mechanism and “date”; a “day-of the week” would be a bonus. This watch offered everything I was looking for so I purchased it. Initially I set the time using the official US time web site. Over the couple of weeks I have been using the watch I cannot detect any deviation between the time on the watch and this web site (down to the second). The watch arrived with instructions for setting the correct time for a mechanical pocket watch rather than the watch I bought. Correctly setting the “date” and “day-of-the-week” is more complicated than setting the time on a mechanical watch so I went to the company web site to see if the needed instructions were available there. They were not but I did find a web address for their service department. Late on Christmas Eve I sent an email to the service department requesting instructions for correctly setting the time/date/day-of-the-week on this watch. Playing around with the watch led me to think that setting the watch was reasonably simple. With the stem pulled out, turning clockwise advanced time, date, and day-of-the-week while turning the stem counter clockwise affected only the time and day-of-the-week. I quickly set the watch and assumed I was done. But on Christmas day the “day-of-the-week” had advanced but not the “date.” I advanced the time by 24-hours and the “date” was correct but the “day-of-the week” was now off. On December 26 both “date” and “day-of-the-week” had advanced. But most surprising was that I had an email from the service department explaining how to correctly set the watch. It turns out that the “time” has to be advance at least 24-hours after setting the correct “day-of-the-week” before the gears mesh correctly between the “date” and "day-of-the-week.” This resolved that issue and the “date/day-of-the-week” sub-dials have work correctly ever since. But the important point here is that rapid response I received from the service department leads me to be reasonably confident that they will respond similarly should I have any problems with the watch in the future. The watch arrived with a funky little bail on the lower part of the back of the watch. I had missed that in looking at the pictures of the watch before making the purchase. This little bail pulls out about 30 degrees and would allow the watch to be propped up on a table – but, of course, one would be looking at it upside down. So I don’t quite know what to make of the little bail except it does create a snag hazard when removing the watch from a watch pocket. However, with a small screwdriver this funky little bail was removed in a couple minutes. That resolved that problem. I am delighted with the watch. It is everything I wanted in a pocket watch!Read More
