I bought this locket for my mother as a Valentine's gift. I also bought one for me so we would have matching lockets. They are gorgeous. My mother asked me if I spent a fortune on it. The necklace looks like a family heirloom. It has beautiful and intricate details and is easy to wear - heavy by quality standards but not too heavy around your neck. It goes with many of my outfits. I like that I can take the locket off and put it on a shorter chain, leather or silk cord, or a pretty satin ribbon.

This was my very first piece of marcasite (I always thought it was for older ladies). I bought it as a gift, but was so impressed that I wound up keeping it. Since this purchase, I have also bought some marcasite earrings and a bracelet. This locket is LOVELY! It is much lighter, brighter, and more sparkly than is shown in the pictures.

my only concern about this necklace was the clasp for the actual locket. mine started to become looser as i wore the necklace. i was able to somewhat fix it but i was anoyed and frustrated at the time.

Well made pendant, sturdy, not too big. A piece of jewelry that can be worn with anything. Not to mention its ability to keep close a special piece of memory.

If you want a necklace that makes a statement, this is the locket for you. It is not too large or too small, but may adequately be dressed up or down. The locket is as pictured. This locket was originally purchased as a gift for a family member. I liked it so much I purchased one for myself. It is oval shaped and rounded on both sides - which allows for it to move through out the day showing either the decorative front or plain back. Keep in mind that the back has cut outs just like the front. You can put a picture in there if you want, but I wouldn't recommend it, because you would be able to see if from the outside, and the draw of this necklace is the decorative marcasite and carving, not what one can put in it. The chain is delicate, but it works. My toddler loves to have me open and close it.

I ordered this piece (Sterling Silver Marcasite Oval Locket Necklace) because the picture made it look as though the coloring of the marcasite "crystals" was more of a golden color...in reality, the coloring was "flat", more like a bronze or a brown...the item I received was not very "sparkly" at all, either. I just wasn't that impressed with the look of it overall, and will more than likely return the piece. If you're not hoping for a gold-and-silver look, however, the pendant does seem to be well-made and has a nice weight to it.

Gave this to my grandmother who is a fan of antique jewelry. She loved it. A locket, altho too small to really use. very nice. The chain was pretty decent. Great Buy

I purchased this necklace recently and was excited to receive it based on the positive reviews found here. When I received it, I was very impressed with the high quality look and sparkle of the marcasite. Unfortunately, upon further inspection, one tiny stone was missing. I decided to exchange it for a new one. As a precaution, I kept the original necklace on hand just to compare the two. I'm glad that I did, b/c surprisingly, I actually decided to keep the original necklace. The second necklace that was sent had virtually no sparkle to it whatsoever (esp. in comparison to the first). Although there were no stones missing from the second necklace, the stones were set so deeply into the pendant that they didn't capture the light and sparkle. This might explain the drastic difference between some of the reviews. Overall, it's a very pretty pendant that is worth purchasing, esp. at this price. Just keep in mind that if it doesn't have much of a sparkle to it, it might be from a bad batch.

The necklace is beautiful and both my grandmother's LOVED it (especially with pictures inside). I'm a little scared of the chain since it seems fairly thin for the weight of the locket - HOWEVER, there haven't been any issues with it so far. If the locket falls off anytime soon I'll update my review. For now, GREAT necklace for the price. Looks high quality and is also beautiful.

This is a very lovely necklace. I happened to order two of the marcasite necklaces. This one and a square one. By far, this was the most impressive of the two. It was well made and gives the impression of being much more expensive than it is. It's the perfect size as well. I highly recommend it.
