I got this for my son's teacher who has two adopted daughters from China. I have ordered jewelry from Overstock before but was BLOWN AWAY by the quality of this piece. The chain was beautiful and the pendant would have cost much more had I bought a similar item at a store (if I could find one!!). It is really a nice piece and I would not hesitate to order more.

Many people thought this symbol means love or happiness. Actually, this symbol is only appropriate for one thing, "wedding" or a new marriage. The symbol is a combination of two "Joy" side by side. It's symbolic of two people joining their lives together and lived happily ever after. You'll see this symbol in red cut out form and placed on doors or walls around the new Chinese couple's home. Make sure you know the true meaning of this charactor. It's not appropriate for singles or young girls. I purchased this necklace for a young lady who's getting married this fall.

The pendants are perfect. The chain is really nice. I'm giving them to my bridesmaids and I hope they love them as much as I do!

I got this for my Mom who wanted a unique necklace. She LOVES this necklace. She loves it so much that she has worn it everyday for the past several years. She has now asked for a new one. The first one seems to be getting a little "thin", so I bought another one for her. Great deal for the price.

I bought this pendant as a gift for my 15 year old daughter as inspiration for her to lead a happy life. She loved it as both a piece of jewelry and for what it represented. My wife, who is Chinese, commented that the character actually meant "double happiness" and was more representative of the "dual happiness" of a couple - married, engaged... That being the case, we decided to interpret it as a father-daughter bond of love and joy. The description of the item should probably be clarified to represent what the character actualy means and how Chinese culture interprets it.

My husband likes to wear necklaces .... but nothing too flashy. This worked great for him on a leather cord. It is pretty lightweight, however.

Nice pendant, just as pictured. It tarnished oddly fast though compared to my other silver. Within a month, the chain was pretty dark. Nothing a little silver cleaning solution didnt take care of though.

I love this piece. I get asked about it everytime I wear it. The silver is shiny and beautiful. Both the necklace and pennant are well made and quality for the price. I chose the "Happiness" character and I have to say that this necklace brings me great happiness :)

I bought this necklace over a year ago. I wear it everyday. I think the chain that came with it got busted, so I ordered another one (a box chain) from overstock and it's held up pretty well. I think I remember the last one pulling my hair at the clasp. Its a great buy!

This pendant is very well made, about 1/2 inch long...not counting the bale. The chain is also very attractive, but a bit too short for me, so I had to use my own chain. I would buy another like it in a heartbeat.

This necklace is nice. But, pay good attention to the size because it's not very big.

I would have given this 5 stars but the chain gave my mother a rash. We originally purchased three of them: one for my daughter, my mother and myself. We thought since everything was listed as sterling silver that it would be okay for my mother. My mother has an allergy to nickel and she broke out from the chain. We looked it up online and some items that are listed as 'sterling silver' are mixed with nickel to make them retain their shine. We will need to get her another chain due to this. There has been no problem with the pendant itself. Other than that this necklace is beautiful and we just love it. My daughter was adopted from China and wears hers all the time now.

This necklace appears to be quality made and chain seems sturdy and I love the shine, but the measurements that are posted are wrong. It states approximately 1.25 inches including bail, but the piece I got measured under 1 inch and that included the bail. The photo is rather misleading (for the love piece) as the bail is nearly half the size of the actual pendant making the pendant appear larger. (the pendant is nearly the size of my pinky nail) The pendant itself measured a total of a half an inch, not what I was expecting at all. I estimated the pendant to be about 1" and the bail to be the .25, but I was wrong. I still recommend it because it's a very nice necklace and would make a great gift for anyone who appreciates the symbolism, but don't expect it to stand out much as it's very small, although I'll admit it's got a nice silver shine to it and not a bad price for the metal.

I purchased this for my husband, and he really liked it. The chain is not as thick as I would like, but he definitely loved the chinese letters and their meanings.
