Sterling Silver Amethyst Necklace

This necklace was purchased as a casual piece of amethyst to wear with T-shirts. It is gorgeous and I wear it more often than I originally expected. The color is not as dark as the item photographed, however it does have good color and presence.

This piece is lovely. It is big enough to be noticed, but not so big as to overwhelm. The necklace it comes with is a little short on my neck and I choose to wear this pendant on a slightly longer white gold chain. The loop on the top of the necklace is large enough to easily swap out with another chain. When worn on a light background, the difference in color between the smaller, lighter stone and the larger, darker stone is more pronounced. The back of the jewels is entirely open, allowing for easy cleaning and lots of light to hit the many facets. This is a lot of carat weight for the dollar and I highly recommend getting the companion pieces. The earrings don't seem to linger on Overstock, so you'll have to look for them. The ring finishes the look beautifully. Overstock should consider grouping them and selling them as a set.

If you are looking for a simple yet elegant pendant with nice size amethyst stones with good color saturation, a pendant that also comes with a silver chain, and all that for under 50 bucks -- then get this for yourself or as a gift. Nothing further needs to be said. Just get it.

With my personal fetish about "matching" combined with the additional 10% savings even beyond the typically great Overstock prices, I had to indulge in the whole set of these pieces! The colors of the amethyst are distinct enough to give the pieces real depth and the settings are classic. These are not tiny pieces but really quite substantial - the gem presence is wonderful. The chain is a nice enough chain but no better nor worse than I would expect. I'm not sure what the other reviewer's complaint was about the back of the pendant which is open and allows light to play through the gems along with the side openings in the rest of the setting (and unless I deliberately turn the piece over to show the back to others I doubt if they'll notice anything other than the beautiful gems!).

I am very satisfied with this purchase. The necklace is very tastefull and of good workmanship. I also like the color of the stone - deep purple. This is a great buy for the price!
