I purchased this for my 2 year old girl so she could play with my costume jewelry...the handle is rather tight against the box, making it difficult for me to slide my fingers into the handle. It's cute but very small, best for someone who only has a small collection of jewelry.
This box was a bit smaller than I thought it would be, but as I bought it for my 10 year old daughter, that didn't really matter. She doesn't have a ton of stuff to put in it anyway. She loves it. She can keep all her earrings and necklaces safe now, and she uses the large compartments in the bottom for her lip gloss and body glitter containers. (What a girly girl! :-p ) The latch is secure. The locking mechanism doesn't seem to be the greatest, but that's not really a big deal. If you want to travel with this, it might be more important to you. I mean, it works, but it's not gonna keep out someone really determined. Good enough for little brothers, maybe not so much for jewel thieves.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase, and it fit the need I bought it for perfectly.

I purchased this for my 6-year-old niece, who has impeccable taste, and it was perfect for her. The size is great for a child (would be too small for an adult, unless you were traveling with it). It is pretty and classic, and a great value for the money. Seems to be made well too.

too bulky for travel use. They are really only appropriate for a
