3.8 out of 5...and there's a reason why this thing is so cheap. I'm OK with the cheesy plastic construction. I could even live with the grinding noise it makes during operation. What I'm not OK with is the fact that this thing overwinds watches. Most automatics need 650-1000 turns per day to remain fully wound. This delivers 1440 turns/day, so most watches are getting overwound. This doesn't cause immediate damage, but most experts feel that this does shorten the life of the movement. This toy also does not offer a bidirectional mode (alternating clockwise/counterclockwise), which most movement manufacturers specify as preferred for their modern movements.
Bottom line up front: effective and inexpensive solution to keeping an automatic running, especially if you don¿t wear it often. Does a good job keeping my wife's automatic watch (Seiko 5 Rolex look-a-like she only wears on ¿special occasions¿ - bought it here - nice watch) running at less than 3/5th the price of other winders. Don¿t be too worried about over winding; I accidentally unplugged it for about 12 hours and the watch stopped. It was larger than I expected (diameter is about the size of the palm of a man's hand) and louder than I expected. I'm not a particularly light sleeper, but if you are consider putting it in another room.
The watch winder did not work on my antique watch that was just repaired. Product has been sent back for a refund of my money.

This watch winder replaced a more expensive one that did not do the job. The more expensive winder only ran for 33 seconds every 12-24 minutes, and failed to properly wind my watches. This winder works for an hour every 4 hours and fully winds my 40 year old Rolex as well as my 50 year old Seiko.

Similar to one I've had for years. Much less expensive and as effective as other units.
I have owned some other very expensive watch winders before, so I was very surprised when this one performed so well. It keeps each one of my automatic watches wound (tested them individually) and is whisper quite. Great product for an even better price.
I've never had a watch winder before, but after paying $150 to replace the crown and tube on my Rolex (from over winding by hand), I decided that a watch winder was a good investment. Checked many stores before going on-line. Took a chance on a "cheap" winder because of it's simplicity (buying for function and not for display looks) and low profile. Couldn't be happier. I've used it every weekend (I wear the watch every day to work), and it does the job perfectly. No problems whatsoever. Couldn't be happier. And at the price, if it doesn't last a long time, I can replace it 3+ times and still be out less money than for a more decorative (but not any more functional) one.
Very good for an inexpensive winder. Quiet, efficient and I am very satisfied with it.
I bought this to go with the automatic watch I bought my boyfriend for his birthday. He loves it and took it with us on a recent vacation. It is soo quiet.
This product is loud, did not start until i shook it. Cheap materials. Don't buy
Not recommended. The device operates intermittently. The plug-in looses contact with the device and the device stops. Wiggle the plug and it starts up again. Very annoying. Happens every time. Can never wind my watch.
Overall this works well. Quiet, holds my 2009 Tag Aquaracer well, goes both directions (although my Tag only winds when going clockwise), and inexpensive. Only had it 1 month so far so we'll see how it holds up...
Excellent service, and price and the prodect works as advertized.
You hardly know it is there. Very quiet. My particular watch doesn't fit in so well, but since some of these things cost $60 of so and I paid less than half, I am happy. Having an automatic watch is a hassle without one of these. I already broke mine once trying to wind it. Great invention It was my first Overstock.com order.
