These are bright, orchid colored pearls. They are obviously dyed but not "glaringly" fake looking. Very bright, pretty color, as shown in the picture. Luster is great. Shape and size are uniform enough that you don't notice irregularities from normal wearing distance.
Pearls are slightly graduated, the ones at the back are somewhat smaller than the ones in front. So far so good, but I have had several strands of Overstock pearls break soon after purchase.
How did the image on site compare with the actual product? very close
How accurate was the sizing? accurate
Please tell us about the quality of the product. good so far
I buy several things (furniture, shoes, jewelry, clothing) from overstock every month. I keep a majority of what I purchase and am happy with the price. However, these pearls were smaller that the 9=10 mm they were advertised at. They were not worth forty dollar retail. If you don't mind a smaller pearl these would work for you. The purple color was gorgeous and distinctive.
How did the image on site compare with the actual product? image on site was what I expected.......a fat pearl
How accurate was the sizing? pearl size was too small
Please tell us about the quality of the product. excellent quality just not a fat pearl
These pearls are beautiful with such great luster they could be mistaken for Akoya pearls! I am so picky and recently sent back the New York Pearls 18in necklace. This was worth the wait! So pretty, well strung and an excellent pale lavender color that could pass for pink or lilac depending on what you are wearing with them. Nice clasp, a great size pearl and marked .925, they hang great right out of the white pouch. The only downside is that they are not perfectly round (but so close it is just fine for this price and size) and they measure more like 17.5 inches. 17 inches of pearls and .5inches of clasp. I was hoping to double these with another pearl necklace, but they are the same size. Not a big deal, the necklace is so nice I don't care, but thought it would be worth mentioning. Jewelry buying & selling/shopping is my hobby. I would pay twice as much had I seen them in person. They are a deal!
Well... I feel very disappointed with this product as it is on my hand and neck.
First of all, there are too many dents and scratches on the pearls. I do have no idea how their workers handle pearls. Obviously, for this product, the enormous dents and scratches upset me. I even can see the dark inside surface below the purple dye ---- you can see how severe the scratches are.
Also many pearls are off-round. I think that is the difference between a photo and a real, physical item. I understand off-round pearls are acceptable according to its price, but I feel cheated when I check the photo and real item on hand.
Many vendors show off-round pearls of their necklaces on the photos --- which does not bother me. You get what you pay for. However, if vendors show items in a good shape but the real things are totally opposite, I would feel those vendors are not honest.
I totally agree with the reviewer from "NYC & Idaho Falls". This pearl necklace is NOT AAA quality. Please Overstock, update/correct your item description. I was hoping to get a good batch based on the most recent reviews...unfortunately, mine were pretty marred-up !
I too was excited to receive my FW pearl necklace, but when I open the packaged I was disappointed to see the deep pits & grooves on the pearls. I noticed the more blemished ones (about 10 pearls) were set towards the back of the clasp. The overall pearl necklace is good: pretty lilac color (but lacked in luster), accurate in the size of the pearls, and weight was substantial. I would not have ranked this as AAA pearls (maybe an A) due to the deep pit/grooves and dullness of each pearls. At $35, I rather keep it and wear it as a "funky yet casual" necklace.
I bought this for myself as a fun necklace, not expecting AAA quality. The color is lovely, I enjoy the necklace, and I've received many complements. That said, I measured the pearls and they are all 8-9 mm, not one 10 mm. I wish the product description was more accurate regarding size. This was not a huge deal to me, but it may be to others. The surfaces are obviously blemished and the pearls are not round, definitely not AAA. I bought these for just over $!@, and I expected as much for the price. If you are expecting perfection, this is not the necklace for you. If you want a fun necklace to wear casually and be noticed, I'd recommend this.
The description notes a ball-shaped box clasp, but a reviewer noted the clasp is not the one pictured and is gold colored. What type of clasp is it exactly?lenekay on Aug 1, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello, lenekay. Hope your day is going well. I cannot speak to the item the reviewer you cite received; there is no way of determining that. However, it has been confirmed that you should be receiving the item with the 9mm silver ball clasp as displayed in the photo. I was told by a friend that these were Tahitian pearls. My special necklace is identical to this one, and I believe it was bought from o.co

Are the freshwater pearls natural or cultured? I know that they have an unnatural color given to them, I just want to know if the pearls themselves were natural to begin with.rebekahrebel on Dec 6, 2012Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
These are cultured, dyed, freshwater pearls. Almost ALL pearls for sale are "cultured," which means grown on a pearl farm with human intervention. "Natural" or "wild" pearls are rarely seen, as well as usually small and irregularly shaped. Hope this helps.coconut2012 on May 22, 2013
