14k Pear Shape Gemstone and Diamond Pendant

Good Value, the pendant arrived and has a nice darker colored emerald slightly cloudy (not like some I have seen which are light green and very cloudy) ( the cloudy part is natural, shows it is a genuine stone). It is delicate and feminine. My only complaint about it is that the chain is very thin, and I could not get the pendant off of it to put it on another chain. I had to take it to the jewelers to get the opening widened.

I'm not very experienced with jewelry, but I've purchased a few things on Jeweler's Row in Chicago, so I've got a sense of prices and values. The selection at the shops here were so limited -- they all tend to follow the trends and styles get a bit limited. But looking through overstock.com, I found several items that fit my interest (as a gift for my wife) including this pendant. When it arrived, my wife loved it - thought the color was fantastic, and, despite not being a huge fan of rubies, felt this one was beautiful. And since it was a style that I knew she'd like, and that I couldn't find anywhere in the shops around here, I was very happy with it! The pendant itself appeared to be very well constructed, no loose fittings, the stones were all clear and the cuts were very nice looking (again, I'm no expert). The chain was VERY delicate, and the clasp is a type we don't have a lot of confidence in, so we're going to find a slightly larget one with the double-hook clasp. BUIT, even after getting a new chain, I'm certain the overall cost will still be less than I would have had to pay at the shops around me -- I looked at ruby pendants a few times before, and I am absolutely certain this same piece would have cost me 100-150 more (and I would have had to haggle the salesman down to get it to THAT point). My wife commented that her first worry would have been that a website couldn't accurately convey the color of the gem. Happily, I thought the color of the stone was every bit as attractive as the pictures on the site suggested. The delivery was swift, the packaging very nice -- I love that they send a free ring sizer with the order :-) -- and everything was handled just perfectly. All in all, OS.com is my first stop now when looking for jewelry. I like to save money, and I'm very happy with how this purchase went!
