Dufonte by Lucien Piccard Black Strap Watch

I spent a few hundred on a 'fun' watch for my husband: rubber strap, great name, touch of color etc. At the last minute I thought that he may not be ready to go 'fun' with his watch and so I started cruising O to see what they had. The design of this watch caught my eye and I kept being shocked to see that it was so cheap. I would keep looking at more expensive choices and every time I would see this watch in the sidebar, I would forget the crazy price and admire the look. I decided to take a chance because, if it keep catching my eye like this, then it already passed aesthetic approval and would then come down to the quality. This watch has a ton of positive rating in terms of heft, quality and style, also up close. I was particularly drawn to people repeating that the watch is heavy and solid. So, I went for it as a back up/extra/add on - practically a stocking stuffer-type 'if he hates the other, I can distract him with this until I get something else' choice. Well! I am really pleased and still surprised, again, given the price, that the watch is really nice -- I mean it is beautiful! The box and the box sleeve look like cardboard in coloring but when you actually pick it up you realize that it has a soft/matte gold metallic luster to it. This is nice because it looks like the new idea of eco-luxury in packaging. Natural colors (beige/gold/cream/dk brown type, nice strong and classic font - simple chic. The box feels solid and after you slide the sleeve off of it and open the case, it is a cream colored, flat velvety texture inside which emphasizes the design impact of the watch itself. Now if you are used to the heft of a thick, stainless Movado watch, for example, this watch will not feel particularly heavy - but aside from the very high end, larger, masculine watches, this watch has a really nice visual and tactile presence, in the hand and on the wrist. It looks and feels substantial. It looks clean and elegant - the thickness makes it seem very design-conscious, modern - classic but with an edge. I have to say that I was thrilled to give it to him and he LOVED it instantly. The 'fun' watch is still sitting in the return box to Nordstrom and he wears this one every day. It looks gorgeous with a suit at a beautiful dinner out but not at all out of place with jeans and a sweater - it is that versatile: classic yet modern cool. dirt cheap yet elegant and solid - weird! This was a 100%; success and I would encourage anyone out there to buy this with absolute confidence. I was so please that I came back looking for another Piccard in an eye catching style for myself and another for him but I have yet to see any other Piccard with as great a design sense as this one.

This is a very bold wristwatch, not at all suitable for slender or small wrists. It is heavy, the watch face and backing are very well constructed and the mechanics are still working well. The detail work is very good, with no pitting, scratching or flaws. This is a heavy watch, and if you or the person you are purchasing this for are not used to a watch of this size/weight, it may take some getting used to. Because I prefer leather bands, I took this to a watch repair shoppe and had them add a thick leather strap which only added to the value of this piece. I like the clean lines, excellent detail and accuracy of this watch and look forward to making additional purchases of this brand in the future.

Excellent value. I bought one two years ago. It has kept excellent time. I replaced it with this one because the bar that attached the strap to the watch broke and it would have cost more to repair the strap than it did to buy a new watch.

i would recommend because it has a classy look to it and its very nice just i hope the time hands would glow but over all its a good watch
