I knew nothing about pearls so I did some (actually quite a lot) of research. I learned more about pearls than I really meant to but I really like to know what I'm buying. After purchasing these I took them to a friend who is a registered gemologist and jeweler and he was very impressed. He told me they were worth at least twice what I paid. I wanted a second opinion so I took them to a local jewelry store to have them appraised and was told the same thing. Bottom line, these are very nice pearls for a very good price.Read More
My first pearls....so I love them. However I hate the clasp. I am thinking about taking to a local jewelry store to replace the clasp. Otherwise....so far so good.Read More
Great deal for the money. The presentation box is very good quality. I got the 16 inch necklace as I like the choker style and had a local jeweler make a 2 inch extender for it when I want a longer style. Love them alot1Read More
My girlfriend has wanted a pearl necklace for some time, so I had been looking around for a while. Seeing as a high quality peal necklace from a jeweler was out of my price range, this necklace from Overstock caught my eye. I was reluctant at first, because the price seemed too good to be true. I bought it, figuring that I could return it if it didn't meet my expectations. When it arrived, several of the pearls had noticeable white streaks on them. I exchanged it, and got another one that was free from defect. After giving it to my girlfriend, the clasp separated from the string and the string broke--only after about a month of use. I've seen this is a problem other people are having. So beware--the pearls are actually a good value for the price, but don't expect to get much wear out of it before it breaks. It's a shame, because she really did love the necklace, but it is embarrassing to give a gift that is so poorly made. You really get what you pay for with this necklace. Consider having it restrung with quality materials/craftsmanship before giving it to someone.Read More
Very nice pearls that are worn on all special occasions.Read More
That's right! This pearl necklace made me look great when my wife opened the very classy wood gift box to reveal the strand of Akoya Pearls in front of the inlaws this Christmas. Of course, no one bats 1000, so any realistic person knows products and services can experience a glitch now and then; but not in this case. I have seen workmanship that surpasses that of the Akoya strand -- at 3 or 4 times the price. But the difference is truly slight while the price difference is huge. These are and will be a big hit for a long time. Beautiful satin-bedded presentation gift box. I could get away with stuff like not taking out the garbage and leaving my boxers on the bathroom floor for at least a month after this great gift decision! Keep that in mind . . .Read More
I did a fair amount of research about pearls, size, luster and grading before I made my purchase. With their 30 day return policy I figured I could not go too far wrong. I was right. The pearls arrived the other day. They were superb in all aspects, The wooden box they are in also was flawless.i highly recommend this item to anyone looking for a high-end strand of Akoya pearls (AAA) in a beatiful wood presentation case at a very low purchase price.Read More
I bought these pearls for my fiancee for her birthday. Before ordering, I was a little worried since she already has a string of AAA quality akoya pearls (6.0-6.5mm) that she never wears. But to see her open the box was to remove all doubts--they were so lustrous and perfect looking, and the size is large enough to look rich and elegant, but not too big for a young woman. She has worn them every day since receiving them. The box I received was also perfect.Read More
The pearl and wooden box are all very nice. A week earlier I bought an 18" 7-7.5 mm necklace (listed price at $1,200) from a major department store. Comparing two necklaces, the quality from the Overstsock is much better.Read More
The pearls are good, but they are not well strung. They were given as a gift. The person who received our gift complained that the clasp got detached from the rest of the string soon. We were embarassed.Read More

Pearl Creation Fact Sheet
Pearls are the product of a living creature. Mollusks living in saltwater and fresh water have been forming pearls for over 500 million years. Coveted for their simplicity and color, these organic gems are often set into pearl necklaces, rings, earrings and other jewelry pieces. Unlike gems that evolve from minerals in the earth's crust, pearls begin their creation as a reaction to foreign matter inside a shell-covered mollusk. Pearl jewelry is an homage to the beauty of nature and time.
