The Citizen Eco-Drive Men's Diver Watch is a big durable chunky watch that's tough to beat in the water. Most dive watches have weaknesses...quartz divers need battery changes, and then require pressure testing to ensure they remain waterproof. Automatic [self winding] divers need frequent adjustment to stay on time, and the screw-down crowns are vulnerable to cross-threading and breakage.Neither of these things are true of the Eco-Drive. It never needs a battery change and will only need adjustment to correct the date every few months. In any case, the crown on this watch is designed in such a way that cross-threading is almost impossible. The watch face is very readable, the the blue-toned lume is very bright . I regard this watch as too large to wear as an everyday piece, but it's not out of the question if you want to make a statement. The watch comes with a large zippered case and an extension strap for wearing over wetsuit sleeves, but even without the extension, the comfy rubber strap will fit a 9" wrist. If you need a serious dive watch, this on should be on your shortlist.
THIS IS ONE VERY BIG AND HEAVY WATCH. I like my watches to be big but this is huge. I checked this watch out for over 5 months and when overstock.com put this on sale I knew it was what I wanted. I saved over $50.00 dollars than any of the other Internet web sites and stores. I am very happy that I pulled the plug and bought this Citizen dive watch. This is a monster. I have had this for over 1 month. This is my second Eco-Drive watch. The first gained about 1 minute a week. This Eco-Drive is holding the time very well and has gained about 2 seconds a week. Changing the date is simple but the numbers are very small. The screw is on the left side and it took me about 1 week to automatically put my watch on, not upside down, without thinking about it. The bezel is very hard to turn but should losen up over time. The glow in the dark starts working with very little sun light. The outside numbers are huge and very easy to read. I know that this watch will last for years. Citizen spent extra money on the case. I doubt that any one who bought this EXCELLENT watch made the choice based upon how nice the carrying case is. With so many people trying to be "Green" this extra packaging was a waste. The only problem that I see is that the rubber strap is a bit small. With such a big and chunky watch I do not understand how Citizen decided to use this strap. I do not have a huge wrist but it is still tight just wearing this watch out and about. I have taken this Dive Watch on 3 pool dives, I live in South Florida, I have not needed to wear a wet suit so I have not used the extra strap. This was a great purchase all around. If anyone is on the fence deciding to buy this BJ8050-08E go ahead and get it now...You will be happy with the purchase. I plan to wear this watch all the time in water and out. I have gotten several comments about the quality and looks of how nice this watch is.
Got my ECO-ZILLA from big O so fast it could make Linda Blair's head spin in THE EXORCIST. This watch has a cult following. It is built like a tank and is functional for serious scuba divers. I use it for looking cool at the office and going out to lunch. I will also use it when I snorkel this February in the warm, blue , Carribean with a wet suit in Rincon, P.R. It is a good value. The blue lume is awesome. I was surprised that the screw down crown is a lefty. Also the ratchetting bezel is very stiff and hard to use. I have been covetting this baby a long time. At the bricks and mortar neighborhood jeweler it definitely had a mid 3 price. It comes with nice packaging and an extender for a thick wet suit. It is powered by a cool solar system. Will be interesting to see how many years it goes-- but at this price I will shed no tears.
