14k White Gold Cultured Akoya Black Pearl Necklace (7-7.5 mm)

I asked my boyfriend to buy this necklace for me as a Christmas gift, and I hate that it was so bad I had to ask him to return it. The pearls were a good size and fairly uniform in shape and color. However, the color was actually gray, not the beautiful peacock color in the photos. Also, the thread was white, not black as shown. There were so many visible flaws - the surface of the pearls reminded me of bubbly dried nail polish. Finally, the biggest problem was that the strand was only SEVENTEEN inches long, not eighteen as stated. They did not fit as comfortably as my 18 inch white pearl strand, and I confirmed with a measuring tape that the length was indeed shorter by more than an inch (my white pearls, also from Overstock, were actually a little longer than 18 inches). This is one of the most expensive black pearls strands that Overstock offers. I thought that paying more would increase the likelihood that I would be happy with the purchase, but that isn't how things worked out. The only bright spot is that Overstock was very helpful when I asked them to exchange the item - they're sending the replacement even before the returned item arrives at their warehouse. I will follow up with how the exchange works out!
